NBA’s best, seventh-best wings are Boston Celtics in new Bleacher Report assessment

Only the Clippers with Paul George and Kawhi Leonard have comparable star power on the wing, and only a few other ball clubs (the Nets, Magic, Raptors, and Suns) have multiple star-level wings at all.

While there may still be a debate over whether the pair can play together well enough to win on the league’s biggest stage in at least the eyes of a few, when it comes to the pecking order of wing players in the NBA next season, Boston Celtics All-NBA forwards Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been rated fairly high by a new Bleacher Report assessment of the 30 best wings in the league, coming in at Nos. 1 and 7 respectively.

Only the Los Angeles Clippers with Paul George (sixth overall) and Kawhi Leonard (fifth overall) have comparable star power on the wing, and only a few other ball clubs (the Brooklyn Nets, Orlando Magic, Toronto Raptors, and Phoenix Suns) have multiple star-level wings at all.

Let’s take a look at B/R’s assessments of Tatum and Brown.

The Boston Celtics have a lot of questions to answer in 2023-24

Will Brown live up to the dollar value of his new deal with Boston? Can the Celtics succeed without Smart there to help clean up the team’s defensive lapses? Can Porzingis stay healthy, especially if the Celtics are deep into the postseason?

In the wake of the departure of veteran Boston Celtics floor general Marcus Smart, the Celtics have a fair number of questions surrounding the team heading into the NBA’s 2023-24 season.

Will All-NBA forward Jaylen Brown live up to the dollar value of his new supermax contract extension with Boston? Can the Celtics succeed without Smart there to help clean up the team’s defensive lapses? Can star big man Kristaps Porzingis stay healthy, especially if the Celtics are deep into the postseason? What about the rest of the team’s relatively rickety frontcourt rotation?

The hosts of the “Coast To Coast” NBA podcast recently talked it over and what we might expect out of Boston in the season ahead.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what they had to say.

What Boston Celtics might take home some hardware for the 2023-24 NBA season?

A number of Celtics are in the running for multiple awards.

As we inch ever closer to the NBA’s 2023 preseason and the training camps in the midst of the so-called dog days of August, we are starting to get an idea of what the order of the league will look like in the 2023-24 season for the Boston Celtics and the other 29 teams in the Association.

With that knowledge, one can make a rough prediction on which players will win what full-season hardware. That is exactly the exercise conducted by the folks behind the Three Cone official YouTube channel in a recent clip prognosticating 2023-24’s award winners.

With predictions for awards such as Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Player, Coach of the Year and Sixth Man of the Year, a number of Celtics are in the running for multiple awards per these projections.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what players they think might be so honored by next season’s end.

Should we be more nervous or excited about the Boston Celtics season to come?

With not only Porzingis but Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams III, and Al Horford all presenting risks to miss time in Boston’s 2023-24 campaign, Boston will have to hope they have enough depth

Fans of the Boston Celtics are, by and large, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness for the upcoming season after a major shakeup to the storied franchise’s core. The team’s front office took a big swing, betting on Kristaps Porzingis’ health as much as it is his ability to improve the Celtics’ late-game offense.

Falling short of a championship would be disappointing, given the team’s consistent competitiveness — and could presage even greater shakeups to the team in the 2024 NBA offseason. Health and availability could decide the success of this high-stakes experiment as well.

With not only Porzingis but also Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams III and Al Horford being risks to miss time in Boston’s 2023-24 campaign, Boston will have to hope it has enough depth to get to the postseason mostly healthy.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what the folks behind the “Funky Diabetic” YouTube channel had to say about their concerns with the team this season.

Are the Boston Celtics title favorites for the 2023-24 NBA season?

Only if their gamble on health pays off.

The upcoming season for the Boston Celtics is likely to be a critical one in their current arc of contention.

When the team traded veteran point guard Marcus Smart and backup big man Mike Muscala to bring in then-Washington Wizards star center Kristaps Porzingis, the roster’s vaunted depth took a hit. That was compounded by the exit of reserve forward Grant Williams to the Dallas Mavericks in restricted free agency.

Now, the frontcourt has an older Al Horford, oft-injured Robert Williams III and a dinged Oshae Brissett to worry about. Porzingis is already nursing a bout of plantar fasciitis back to health. And don’t forget about Malcolm Brogdon, the still-healing reserve floor general. Fans are getting nervous, and rightfully so.

The hosts of the “Locked On NBA” podcast recently took a deep dive into this most critical of Celtics seasons with depth and injury concerns in mind.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what they had to say.

ESPN panel picks Boston Celtics to finish first in NBA’s East for 2023-24

The Celtics are counting on Porzingis to play a major role alongside Tatum and Brown,” wrote ESPN.

The Boston Celtics are considered the top contenders in the NBA’s Eastern Conference for the upcoming 2023-24 season, based on predictions from an expert ESPN panel. “The Celtics and the Bucks sit atop this season’s Summer Forecast rankings once again, as both teams are coming off a strong 2022-23 campaign and return a healthy core,” wrote ESPN.

“The Celtics exited the playoffs last season after an epic battle with (the Miami Heat in the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals), and this season, they will continue to play a starting five that includes Jaylen Brown, Al Horford, and Jayson Tatum,” they add.

“But they also acquired Kristaps Porzingis during the offseason — and lost Marcus Smart in the process — and the Celtics are counting on Porzingis to play a major role alongside Tatum and Brown.”

The panel put Boston first in the East standings at season’s end with a total of 55 wins and 27 losses, followed by the Milwaukee Bucks (54-28) and the Cleveland Cavaliers (50-32).

Celtics Lab 212: Projecting Boston’s 2023-24 campaign with Trevor Hass

With the 2023 offseason rapidly drawing to a close as training camps are now weeks rather than months away, we can begin to project how the 2023-24 season will go for Boston and their peers,

The Boston Celtics are nearly done building their team for the 2023-24 season, with one or perhaps two more signings for deep rotation players still left undone. But for all intents and purposes, we have a pretty good idea about the team that the Celtics will be fielding for their campaign to come, and similar assessments can be made about most of the other teams in the NBA for the season ahead.

With the 2023 offseason rapidly drawing to a close as training camps are now weeks rather than months away, we can begin to project how the 2023-24 season will go for Boston and their peers, so to that end, the hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast linked up with Celtics Blog’s Trevor Hass to try and predict how the Celtics’ season will go at a granular level.

We also get into the search for that last player or two Boston is currently in the thick of, and some other news of interest still percolating up this late in the month of August.

Which Eastern Conference teams have their stock rising?

More to the point, are the Boston Celtics among them?

[anyclip pubname=”2123″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8170″]

With most of the teams in the NBA’s Eastern Conference having mostly finalized their rosters for the 2023-24 season, we can begin to take stock of how the offseason went for each of the constituent ball clubs that make up the East. That includes the Philadelphia 76ers, Tonroto Raptors, New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons, Charlotte Hornets, Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks, and the Boston Celtics are of course among them.

To such an end, the hosts of the “Locked On NBA” podcast sat down to suss out the likely order of the Eastern Conference for the season ahead, with an eye to whether each team in the East is a club one should be buying or selling the stock of.

Check out the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say about the Celtics and their peers from around the NBA.

Grande made an appearance on the CLNS Media “Celtics Beat” podcast to talk about Gorman’s last season calling Celtics games and stressed the importance of enjoying Gorman’s final year on the call.
