Joe Mazzulla deserves credit for the Boston Celtics historic run

The Celtics coach played no minor role in Boston’s successes this season.

The Boston Celtics have put together an all-time great run to the 2024 NBA Finals, and if you try to narrow down the names most responsible for it going down, Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla needs to be at the top of the list.

You can point to the play of the stars given the impact of Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Kristaps Porzingis. The other starters in Derrick White and Jrue Holiday have been literally indispensable. And the bench from Al Horford to Jordan Walsh have all done their parts, and made their sacrifices to fuel the success for Boston.

The hosts of the CLNS Media “Still Poddable” podcast, Brian Robb, Sam Packard, and Jay King, took a closer look at how Mazzulla has impacted the run on a recent episode. Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear it.

What player improved the most for the San Antonio Spurs last season?

With such a young team, there is a long list of potential candidates to point to.

What player improved the most for the San Antonio Spurs last season? With such a young team, there is a long list of potential candidates to point to, but most fans of the team are likely to point to a certain rookie forward who hails from France for the obvious answer.

And the case is not a hard one, considering said French forward (Spurs big man Victor Wembanyama, in case it is not so obvious as we think it is) entered the league barely able to stay on the floor defensively at times to a bona fide 2024 Defensive Player of the Year candidate by the end of the season. But there are other candidates — who are they?

The host of the “Locked On Spurs” podcast, Jeff Garcia, connected with “Alamo City Sportscast” podcast host Michael Jimenez to talk about which Spurs players improved the most last season

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what they had to say.

San Antonio Spurs honor Victor Wembanyama for winning NBA’s 2024 Kia Rookie of the Year

The French forward phenom’s 495 points nearly lapped his next closest rival, Oklahoma City Thunder big man Chet Holmgren.

Your NBA 2024 Rookie of the Year is none other than star San Antonio Spurs big man Victor Wembanyama, with the returns from the voting now in and tabulated by the league.

The French forward phenom’s 495 points nearly lapped his next closest rival, Oklahoma City Thunder big man Chet Holmgren, who, in his second year under contract with the Thunder, garnered 295 total points in Rookie of the Year voting. Other rookies who got votes include Brandon Miller of the Charlotte Hornets, Jaime Jaquez Jr. of the Miami Heat, Brandin Podziemski of the Golden State Warriors, and Derek Lively II of the Dallas Mavericks.

That Wemby won this honor unanimously makes it all the more impressive. He is the first rookie to do so since Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves, and just the sixth rookie to do so ever.

The Spurs organization put out a video to celebrate Wemby’s major career milestone. Check it out in the clip embedded above.

Boston’s Jrue Holiday on why the Celtics’ bench defense is so important

‘Even the White guys play defense,’ he joked recently.

The Boston Celtics have mostly made headlines this season with their historic offensive capabilities, putting their opponents on their heels defensively with startling regularity.

But it has been on the defensive end of the court with the Celtics’ true strength has lain in their 2023-24 regular season campaign and beyond into the 2024 NBA Playoffs. When the Celtics have played their best defense in their Eastern Conference first round series against the Miami Heat, there has been little the Heat have been able to do to fix it. The hosts of the CLNS Media “How Bout Them Celtics!” podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, assessed the import of Boston’s defense this season on a recent episode.
