The Ringer ranks the Brooklyn Nets 19th in latest NBA power rankings

The Brooklyn Nets rank 19th in one outlet’s latest NBA power rankings.

The Brooklyn Nets are one of those teams in the NBA that the NBA public is significantly split on in terms of expectations for the team moving forward. Vegas believes that Brooklyn will likely miss the playoffs completely or would have to go through the play-in tournament to get to that stage.

In a recent power rankings article by The Ringer, the Nets ranked 19th on the list. To add more context, not only did The Ringer give numerical rankings for each NBA team, but it also put those rankings in tiers as well.

For example, Brooklyn is in the tier of teams considered to be “on the rise” meaning that the list considers the Nets to be among teams who are “assembling the pieces for a significant leap, whether it’s with young talents who are stepping into larger roles or savvy offseason moves that are paying dividends.”

Brooklyn is in a good spot as a franchise as they are lead by players like Mikal Bridges, Nic Claxton, and Cam Johnson while having some productive veterans along with significant draft capital that allows them the chance to make organization-altering deals in the future. The 2023-24 season will be an interesting one to watch for things to come for Brooklyn as a franchise.

The Brooklyn Nets have completed most of their offseason now that they seen most of their 2023 draft picks in actions and have acquired the majority of the free-agents that they will have for next season. One outlet projects the Nets to be a middle-of-the-pack team for this upcoming season.

According to ESPN‘s latest NBA power rankings, Brooklyn is ranked as the 19th-best team for next season after having gone through the majority of this summer. On the list compiled by ESPN’s writers, the Nets are ranked behind the Atlanta Hawks and in front of the Utah Jazz.

Last season, Brooklyn made the playoffs as the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference despite having traded Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving at the February deadline. While having to essentially play an entirely new team because of the trades, the Nets still managed to make the playoffs. Brooklyn lost to the Philadelphia 76ers in a 4-0 sweep despite good chances to steal wins in Games 3 and 4 of the first-round series.

Here’s what ESPN’s Tim Bontemps had to say about why the Nets are ranked where they are:

“The Nets got a deal done with restricted free agent forward Cam Johnson this offseason, completing their biggest piece of business entering the summer. The question looming over the franchise now? Can it finally get some version of the Ben Simmons it thought it was receiving from the 76ers in the Harden trade two seasons ago?”

The Brooklyn Nets have gone through most of their offseason in terms of moves that they’re going to make to improve the team enough to be a force next season. According to some, it looks like the Nets will be one of those teams in the middle of the NBA in terms of quality.

In Bleacher Report’s latest NBA power rankings done by Andy Bailey, Brooklyn ranked 19th on the list after free-agency has came and went. While there are still a few free-agents out there, it looks like most of the moves that teams are going to make have been done so the league can look forward to training camp and things of that nature.

According to the article, the Nets ranked 17th in the league before free-agency happened. Since free-agency came and went, Brooklyn has lost players like Joe Harris and Patty Mills, but have added players like Dennis Smith Jr., Lonnie Walker IV, and Darius Bazley.

As expected, the Nets are a middle-of-the-pack kind of team which kind go either way in terms of their season. After losing so much shooting, not to mention Seth Curry leaving as well, Brooklyn did not find add much shooting to the roster outside of Walker IV. However, the team did get more athletic and that could be interesting to see next season.

Brooklyn Nets place 17th in B/R’s latest power rankings

In Bleacher Report’s latest power rankings done by Andy Bailey, the Brooklyn Nets rank 17th in the NBA.

The 2023 NBA Draft is less than one week away and while the main focus of the Brooklyn Nets has been on the draft, they could be looking ahead as well. In Bleacher Report’s latest NBA power rankings done by Andy Bailey, the Nets rank as the 17th-best team in the league.

Bailey acknowledges in the title that these rankings are premature since the draft has not happened yet and a lot of things can change for a lot of teams before games become real months from now. However, now that the Denver Nuggets have won the league championship for the 2022-23 season, it’s interesting to see where teams stand before any major moves/decisions are made.

Brooklyn ranking 17th makes sense as nobody would confuse this squad with having one of the best rosters in the Association. However, the Nets do have some pieces like Mikal Bridges, Nic Claxton, and Spencer Dinwiddie that make them better than a lot of other teams at the bottom of the league. Also, if Brooklyn is able to pull off a trade for a star-level player, Brooklyn could rise up the power rankings to become a more competitive team.
