Boston’s Jaylen Brown inadvertently wears his game shorts backward for Cs-76ers preseason tilt

Admit it — it has happened to you, too.

Admit it — it has happened to you, too. A little out of sorts after some time off, you put your work clothes on and get busy at whatever it that you do, only to find out you have put on something backward in front of everyone you work with.

Except for Jaylen Brown, everyone he works with happens to include everyone watching the Boston Celtics in their first preseason tilt of the 2023-24 season against the Philadelphia 76ers — and it was his shorts, Nike logo and all facing his posterior. The Georgia native was having himself a solid if rusty outing when fellow Celtics alum and NBC Sports Boston broadcaster Brian Scalabrine noticed his Kriss Kross-style of wearing his game shorts.

To see the faux pas for yourself, check out the clip from Scal et al embedded below.

Celtics two-way guard Jay Scrubb suffers ACL tear during practice

The Boston Celtics announced Sunday that two-way guard Jay Scrubb had suffered a torn ACL during a preseason practice.

The Boston Celtics announced that two way shooting guard Jay Scrubb suffered a torn right ACL during a preseason practice. Scrubb signed a two-way contract with the team this offseason after a successful stint at the NBA’s 2023 Las Vegas Summer League. The team declined to offer any other updates about Scrubb’s status for the season.

The Louisville was a standout player during a brief junior college career with the John A. Logan Volunteers before declaring for the NBA draft in 2020. He was selected with the No. 55 overall pick by the Brooklyn Nets, the first junior college player to be drafted into the league since 2004.

Scrubb was subsequently traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. He spent the next few seasons between the G-League and the NBA before landing with the Celtics this summer.

The Boston Celtics are ready for their preseason opener vs. the Philadelphia 76ers

The Boston Celtics are gearing up for their preseason opener against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, officially putting the NBA’s 2023 offseason behind them.

The Boston Celtics are gearing up for their preseason opener against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, officially putting the NBA’s 2023 offseason behind them. Head coach Joe Mazzulla, confident in the Celtics’ depth even after the Jrue Holiday trade, anticipates an exciting 2023-24 season with a revitalized roster.

There’s a sense of novelty to pair with the sense of losing beloved players like Marcus Smart and Robert Williams III as key additions like Kristaps Porzingis and Holiday join the team, creating a different dynamic on both ends of the court. Anticipation extends beyond star players, though, with fans eager to see how role players like Lamar Stevens and Jordan Walsh perform.

The host of the CLNS Media “How Bout Them Celtics!” took some time on a recent episode to talk about the first of Boston’s slate of preseason games.

Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers preseason: How to watch, broadcast, lineups

While the normal starters will likely see a short night on the floor, it will be our first look at a very different — and potent — version of the team.

The 2023 NBA offseason is officially over with the arrival of the first game of the Boston Celtics‘ slate of preseason games, the first of which is a home tilt between Boston and their Atlantic Division rivals, the Philadelphia 76ers. While the normal starters will likely see a short night on the floor, it will be our first look at a very different — and potent — version of the team.

If you happen to be looking for a way to watch the on-court action live on cable television or a local or national online streaming service that carries the game, keep reading while we get you up to speed on everything else you need to know about the game. Along with player injuries and likely starters for both teams, we of course will have how to watch it listed below.

Let’s begin with the players available to play.

Celtics Lab 217: Taking stock of unresolved storylines ahead of Boston’s training camp with Adam Kaufman

Several unresolved storylines could potentially impact the team’s 2023-24 campaign significantly should they remain in such a state much longer than the start of the regular season.

Less than a week away from the Boston Celtics‘ 2023 Media Day proceedings set to kick off on Monday, October 2, a number of unresolved storylines could potentially impact the team’s 2023-24 campaign significantly should they remain in such a state much longer than the start of the regular season later in the month.

What is going on with Malcolm Brogdon emotionally and in terms of health? How is Kristaps Porzingis’ plantar fasciitis coming along, and what will his role be with the ball club? Who is going to man the point in the absence of Marcus Smart, and who will be a vocal leader sans he and Grant Williams both? And is the coaching staff ready for the tall task of hanging banners?

To get up to speed on all of the above, the hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast reached out to one of the two co-hosts of our sister CLNS pod that has been at the center of at least some of those unresolved storylines, The Gambler’s Adam Kaufman.

We also get caught up on what news there has been of late regarding late-offseason signings, whispers about what’s been going on at Auerbach Center, and even some thoughts on how the Damian Lillard trade saga might play out, so tune in!

Boston Celtics announce full 2023 NBA preseason schedule

The team is set to kick off their preseason games on October 8 at TD Garden.

The Boston Celtics have revealed via press release their 2023 preseason schedule for the upcoming NBA season. The team is set to kick off their preseason games on October 8 at TD Garden, facing off against the Philadelphia 76ers. This marks the beginning of a five-game exhibition series for the storied ball club.

All five of the Celtics’ preseason games will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Boston and streamed on the newly launched NBC Sports Boston app. The network will also provide comprehensive pregame and postgame coverage throughout the preseason. In addition, select preseason games will be broadcast live on 98.5 The Sports Hub.

Let’s take a look at Boston’s full 2023-24 preseason schedule.

Boston adds preseason game vs. the Charlotte Hornets to 2023 preseason schedule

Boston also faces the Sixers in a home-and-away series this October in preseason play.

Fans of the Boston Celtics learned they will have two preseason games against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday morning. Later in the day, CLNS Media’s Bobby Manning reported the Celtics have another preseason tilt scheduled against the Charlotte Hornets.

According to the Sixers, the two teams will play a home-and-home series on Sunday, Oct. 8, and Wednesday, Oct. 11, Sunday’s game in Boston is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET. Wednesday’s game in Philadelphia is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at The Center. After that, per Manning, Boston “will also visit Charlotte on Oct. 19 at 7 (p.m.).”

That could be the full preseason slate for the Celtics, but the team might still be trying to finalize one more preseason contest to fine tune a restructured roster as much as possible ahead of the 2023-24 regular season.

The Atlantic Division rivals will get a close look at each other early in the 2023-24 preseason.

The Boston Celtics have not released their 2023-24 preseason schedule, but we have a good idea about some of the games. The Philadelphia 76ers made public a pair of early October tilts between the two Atlantic Division rivals.

Per the Sixers, Boston and Philly will start a home-and-home series in Boston on Sunday, Oct. 8 with the tip set for 6 p.m. ET. The Celtics make the trip to Pennsylvania on Wednesday, Oct. 11, with the tip set for 7 p.m. ET.

There is no timetable for the Celtics to announce the rest of their preseason schedule for their 2023-24 campaign, but it is customary for teams to publish their preseason schedules sometime in the penultimate month of the offseason, Philly is among the earliest in the league to do so this year.
