With draft declaration season in full effect, the Oklahoma Sooners have already lost four playmakers off their 2021 roster to the NFL. Nik Bonitto, Perrion Winfrey, Isaiah Thomas, and Brian Asamoah have made it known they’ll begin their preparations for the 2022 NFL Draft.

While early signing day was giving us the official commitments for the 2022 recruiting class, another current Oklahoma Sooner, who was key to their success on 2021 announced his intentions as well.

In a video on his YouTube channel, Michael Turk announced he’ll be back for the 2022 season, bombing kicks and creating great field position for the Sooners.

Turk, who transferred over from Arizona State last Summer, became a weapon in the Oklahoma Sooners arsenal, regularly flipping field position and backing opposing offenses up in their own end zone.

As the Sooners look to get more defensive in the Brent Venables era, having a player that can help you dominate the field position battle is invaluable. Turk’s ability to move Oklahoma out from the shadow of their own goal posts and put pressure on the opposition can’t be understated.

Oklahoma Sooners fall short in Bedlam, how did CBS Sports Grade their performance?

After their disappointing loss to the Oklahoma State Cowboys, how did CBS Sports grade the Oklahoma Sooners performance in Bedlam?

The Oklahoma Sooners fell short in their comeback bid against the Oklahoma State Cowboys and in that, failed to reach the Big 12 title game since the conference reinstated it back in 2017. This will be the first time the Sooners didn’t win the Big 12 since 2014.

As he does each week, Barrett Sallee of CBS Sports handed out grades to each of the playoff contenders and the Oklahoma Sooners failed to make the grade, receiving an “F” for their performance in Bedlam.

The Sooners’ last eight drives were empty in the loss to Oklahoma State, which eliminated them from Big 12 Championship Game and CFP contention. This team was so inconsistent this year that, even if it did make the CFP, it wouldn’t stand much of a chance to win it all. – Sallee, CBS Sports

Consistency from week to week and even drive to drive was a huge issue for an Oklahoma Sooners team that came into the season with lofty expectations. And that was on display in Bedlam. Despite their best efforts, the Sooners’ offense was held off the scoreboard after a 24 point first half.

The nine points they did score were generated by the defense and special teams.

Heading into the bowl season, the Sooners have a lot to work through as they’ll face departures of several key players this offseason. With Caleb Williams returning, the Sooners will have a chance for a strong season in 2021, but OU will have to answer questions about the offensive line and the running game.

Sooners four-star tight end target Kaden Helms sets commitment date

4 star tight end target Kaden Helms set his commitment date for this month. Can the Sooners land another top 2022 offensive recruit?

Recruiting season continues to heat up for the Oklahoma Sooners and their top targets. After getting a commitment from four-star offensive tackle Jake Taylor this week, another top target for the 2022 recruiting class is preparing to make his decision.

Kaden Helms, the four-star tight end from Bellevue West High School in Bellevue, Nebraska, will announce his decision to the world on July 18 according to a report from 247Sports Steve Wiltfong.

Helms is another top offensive target that is favored to be heading to Norman after Raleek Brown, Gavin Sawchuk, Jacob Sexton and Jake Taylor committed to join Lincoln Riley’s offense at OU.

It would be another huge get for the Oklahoma Sooners, who have made it a habit of nabbing the top offensive talent in each recruiting cycle.

Helms joined many of the Sooners top recruits at the recent ChampU BBQ in Norman.

According to Rivals, Helms is the No. 19 tight end in the 2022 recruiting class while 247Sports has him ranked the 15th-best tight end in the nation.

It’s already been a fantastic summer for the Sooners, and it looks like they aren’t slowing yet.

After adding four-star offensive tackle Jacob Sexton on Saturday, the Sooners added another wide receiver to an already stellar 2022 recruiting class.

Brice played multiple positions for Seguin High School, but played wide receiver full time and caught 19 passes for 469 yards and three touchdowns. That’s a whopping 24 yards per reception. As a sophomore, Brice was used as a multidimensional player, throwing the football 147 times, completing 36% of his passes for 539 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran the ball 88 times for 531 yards (6 yards per carry) and four touchdowns.

It’s a big get for the Sooners who had a big play threat  after losing four-star wide receiver Talyn Shettron to Oklahoma StateTalyn Shettron to Oklahoma State earlier this week.

Brice is a big play threat that will have an opportunity to make big plays for the Oklahoma Sooners as soon as he gets on campus on 2022.
