2022 Los Angeles Angels World Series, win total, pennant and division odds

Looking at the 2022 MLB futures for the Los Angeles Angels, including odds for the World Series, pennant, division and projected win total.

Death, taxes and the Los Angeles Angels underperforming preseason expectations are the only sure things in this world.

Below, we look at the Los Angeles Angels’ MLB futures odds, including their projected 2022 win total and World Series odds at Tipico Sportsbook.

The Angels have fallen short of their win total for four consecutive seasons despite having this era’s Mickey Mantle in CF Mike Trout. In fact, L.A. has made the postseason just once in Trout’s legendary 11-year career (2014).

2022 feels eerily similar to every other Angels’ preseason: L.A. made a notable free-agent pickup by signing SP Noah Syndergaard and its lineup, on paper, is one of the best in the AL.

Will things be different in L.A. this year or will this be another season of the Angels not being a factor come October?

Los Angeles Angels’ 2022 World Series odds

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Saturday, April 2 at 8 a.m. ET.

Odds: +3000 (bet $100 to win $3,000)

PASS because I cannot find a path to the World Series for the Angels because they didn’t do enough to bolster their pitching.

Aside from Syndergaard, no one in L.A.’s rotation has meaningful playoff experience, and Syndergaard has only pitched 2 innings since the start of 2020. L.A.’s bullpen has the potential to be a top-10 unit in the MLB, but it’s not good enough to make up for a below-average rotation.

Also, L.A.’s lineup was 23rd in WAR last season (according to FanGraphs) despite SP/DH Shohei Ohtani hitting the third-most home runs in the AL and a breakout season from 2021 All-Star 1B Jared Walsh.

Granted, Trout and 3B Anthony Rendon missed most of the season, but there’s always an excuse for the Angels underperforming.

Los Angeles Angels’ 2022 playoff odds

Will the Angels make the playoffs: Yes +150 | No -180

PASS because the Angels’ “Yes, to make the playoffs” (+150) has an implied win probability of 40.0%, but L.A. might make the postseason in 30.0% of the 2022 regular-season simulations.

Furthermore, I have the Angels power ranked as the third-best team in the AL West, not second, and there are six better teams than L.A. in the other two AL divisions.

That said, L.A.’s “No, to make the playoffs” (-180) is set at a price point I won’t bet when shopping for team futures. The Angels aren’t a big enough “lock” to miss the playoffs to tie up our money for six months on a -180 line.

Los Angeles Angels’ 2022 win total

Over/Under: 83.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

BET ANGELS UNDER 83.5 WINS (-105) because I don’t see how this L.A. team is that much different than the previous four that have all fallen short of their win totals.

The Angels have the 28th-ranked farm system and just one prospect in the top-100. So if L.A. gets bitten by the injury bug it cannot rely on reinforcements from the minor leagues. Organizational depth is one of the biggest things I look at when assessing a teams’ regular-season win total.

On top of that, L.A. was tied for the fourth-highest luck factor at plus-4 in 2021, which essentially means the Angels had four more wins than they should based on run differential.

Also, Trout and Ohtani have a combined four MVP awards, and the Angels have gone Over their win total just once in those years. L.A. could still go Under the total even if Trout and Ohtani both play up to standard.

Odds to win AL West Division

  • Houston Astros -170 (bet $170 to win $100)
  • Los Angeles Angels +330 (bet $100 to win $330)
  • Seattle Mariners +480 (bet $100 to win $480)
  • Texas Rangers +1500 (bet $100 to win $1,500)
  • Oakland Athletics +2000 (bet $100 to win $2,000)

PASS because I might take a stab at the Angels to win the division if their price was north of +700, and I wouldn’t be shocked if L.A. finished last in the AL West.

The Astros have won the division in 4 of the past 5 seasons and are priced appropriately. I have the Mariners power ranked as my second-best team in the AL West. I’m higher on the Rangers’ offseason moves than L.A.’s. The A’s come from nowhere to compete for the division every so often.

Also, the Angels had the fourth-worst division record in baseball last season at 29-47.

Odds to win American League

Odds: +1500 (bet $100 to win $1,500)

PASS considering I don’t see the Angels making the playoffs – so how could they win the pennant?

If things look different in L.A. around the All-Star break, maybe there’ll be some value in taking the Angels to win the AL at that point.

Pre-flop? PASS.

2022 Oakland Athletics World Series, win total, pennant and division odds

Looking at the 2022 MLB futures for the Oakland Athletics, including odds for the World Series, pennant, division and projected win total.

The Oakland Athletics went 86-76 (.531) last season, averaging 4.59 runs per game while allowing 4.24 RPG.  The 2021 season marked the fourth in a row that the A’s finished over-.500. But it was a season of much optimism early and a fade late.

After opening the season with six straight losses, the Athletics went 44-21 in their next 65 games. But the club was very streaky after that. Oakland did go on a seven-game win streak in early-August, but the A’s went just 18-27 the rest of the way to miss the American League playoffs by six games.

Several key players from last year’s club have moved on, but several pieces are still in place. Below, we look at the Oakland Athletics MLB futures odds, including their projected 2022 win total and World Series odds at Tipico Sportsbook.

Oakland Athletics 2022 World Series odds

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Friday, April 1 at 12:18 p.m. ET.

Odds: +9000 (bet $100 to win $9,000)

Oakland is tabbed in the bottom 20% as far as odds to win it all. The Los Angeles Dodgers (+480) are the favorites, followed by the Houston Astros (+900), and Toronto Blue Jays (+900).

At +9000, Oakland has an implied probability of winning the World Series of 1.1% or 90/1 fractional odds.

With what the A’s lost in the offseason, that 90-to-1 oversells this club by quite a bit. By some WAR measures, Oakland lost more talent than any other team in baseball. Near the top of the bottom 20% in the odds is not low enough: STEER CLEAR.

Oakland Athletics 2022 playoff odds

Will the Athletics make the playoffs: Yes +600 | No -847

PASS on this prop. The No is way more of a lean, and it would take way more of an investment than most bettors would make as part of preseason array of futures.

Oakland Athletics 2022 win total

Over/Under: 70.5 (O: -110 | U: -125)

This is such a precipitous drop from a year that saw the Athletics legitimately compete for a postseason berth. Oakland has some nice pitching, but when the A’s traded SP Chris Bassitt to the Mets on March 12, it signaled the part of a rebuild that puts other current-season assets in jeopardy. Its hard to imagine a September not played out by very young baseball club.

This play is maybe worth a line watch: I’d want the Under at 72 wins and a play without 35 cents funneled away. Otherwise, PASS.

Odds to win AL West Division

  • Houston Astros -170 (bet $170 to win $100)
  • Los Angeles Angels +330 (bet $100 to win $330)
  • Seattle Mariners +480 (bet $100 to win $480)
  • Texas Rangers +1500 (bet $100 to win $1,500)
  • Oakland +2000 (bet $100 to win $2,000)

Oakland’s implied probability of winning the AL Central is 4.76% or 20/1 fractional odds. Houston is the clear and worthy favorite here. Other clubs are better positioned to pick up any slack that may be there, even the Rangers. PASS.

Odds to win American League

Odds: +4000 (bet $100 to win $4,000)

The price on Oakland to make the postseason is well short of what would be required to pull the trigger. The Athletics making it to October and then representing the AL in the Series? I would want significantly more than the 40-to-1 implied odds here. AVOID.

2022 Arizona Diamondbacks World Series, win total, pennant and division odds

Looking at the 2022 MLB futures for the Arizona Diamondbacks, including odds for the World Series, pennant, division and projected win total.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have to be better this season than they were in 2021, right? That is the hope entering the 2022 MLB season.

Arizona tied the Baltimore Orioles for the worst record in baseball at 52-110 last season. It was the worst season in Diamondbacks franchise history. They dealt with injuries to 2B Ketel Marte and almost everyone on the pitching staff. They were 25th in runs scored and second-to-last in team ERA.

Arizona didn’t do much to change its lineup, but the D-backs did add three right-handed arms to the pitching staff, signing closer Mark Melancon,  reliever Ian Kennedy and starter Zach Davies. They also agreed to a five-year contract extension to Marte, their best player.

Will that be enough to make them even relevant in the NL West? Below, we look at the Arizona Diamondbacks’ MLB futures odds, including their projected 2022 win total and World Series odds at Tipico Sportsbook.

Arizona Diamondbacks’ 2022 World Series odds

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Friday, April 1 at 10:15 a.m. ET.

Odds: +20000 (bet $100 to win $20,000)

Needless to say, the Diamondbacks have no championship expectations this season. Only the Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates (both +30000) have longer odds to win the World Series than Arizona.

At +20000 odds, Arizona has an implied probability of winning the World Series of 0.50% or 200/1 fractional odds.

The favorites entering this season are in the NL West — the Los Angeles Dodgers (+480), followed by Houston Astros (+900) and Toronto Blue Jays (+900) in the American League.

There is no reason to back the Diamondbacks for a championship run. They are expected to be the worst team in their division. PASS.

Arizona Diamondbacks’ 2022 playoff odds

Will Diamondbacks make the playoffs: Yes +1300 | No -5000

PASS on any bet to make the playoffs. Even with an improved bullpen, the lineup is not improved. They play in a division with the Dodgers and San Francisco Giants, who were both playoffs teams in 2021. The only bet to make is for them not to, but it’s not any fun to root for a bad team to not make the playoffs. Plus there is no money to be won at all. A $100 wager would win a whole $2.

Arizona Diamondbacks’ 2022 win total

Over/Under: 66.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

No pitcher on Arizona’s staff had more than seven wins last season. All five of their starting pitchers spent time on the disabled list.

They expect bounce-back seasons from RHP Zac Gallen and RHP Luke Weaver. LHP Madison Bumgarner started with better velocity this spring than he did all last season. RHP Merrill Kelly was their most consistent starter last season, especially in the second half. Since things can’t get any worse than they were last year, and with an improved bullpen with Melancon and Kenndy at the back end, even if the offense is no better than last season  they should be able to approach 70 wins.

Excluding the COVID-shortened 2020 season, the Diamondbacks have only five seasons with fewer than 67 wins in their history. Each subsequent year in the first four instances, they improved by at least 15 wins.

Take OVER 66.5 (-110).

Odds to win NL West Division

  • Los Angeles Dodgers -230 (bet $230 to win $100)
  • San Diego Padres +320 (bet $100 to win $320)
  • San Francisco Giants +480 (bet $100 to win $480)
  • Colorado Rockies +10000 (bet $100 to win $10,000)
  • Arizona Diamondbacks +10000 (bet $100 to win $10,000)

Arizona’s implied probability to win the NL West is 0.99% or 100/1 fractional odds. This is the Dodgers’ division to win with the Padres and Giant both hoping to keep pace. The Diamondbacks have no chance. PASS.

Odds to win National League

Odds: +10000 (bet $100 to win $10,000)

Arizona is tied with Pittsburgh for the longest odds in the league to win the National League pennant. They have less than a 1% chance in terms of implied odds of winning it. Sure, the payout is amazing, but here it is just throwing your money away. PASS.

2022 Cleveland Guardians World Series, win total, pennant and division odds

Looking at the 2022 MLB futures for the Cleveland Guardians, including odds for the World Series, pennant, division and projected win total.

The Cleveland Guardians enter a new era following their first losing season since 2012 and missing the playoffs in 2021 for the second time in the last three years.

Below, we look at the Cleveland Guardians’ MLB futures odds, including their projected 2022 win total and World Series odds at Tipico Sportsbook.

Cleveland’s history of being conservative continued this offseason when the Guardians made no notable upgrades to the roster. It had the fourth-lowest offseason spending, according to Spotrac.com.

The Guardians are relying on some of their young starters to take the next steps in their careers and for 2020 American League Cy Young SP Shane Bieber to regain his form after missing half of last season with an injury.

The bottom of Cleveland’s range is fourth in the AL Central and the top is a division crown. Let’s examine what’s likelier to happen.

Cleveland Guardians’ 2022 World Series odds

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday, March 31 at 10:33 p.m. ET.

Odds: +7000 (bet $100 to win $7,000)

PASS because both Bieber and 3B Jose Ramirez would both have to flirt with Triple Crown seasons for the Guardians to have a chance at winning the whole thing.

You could talk me into sprinkling on Cleveland’s futures to make the playoffs or to win the AL Central but the Guardians ain’t winning the World Series.

Exclusive USA TODAY Network offer: Deposit $10 or more, get $200 in instant bet credits at Tipico Sportsbook! New customer offer in CO and NJ. 21+, see Tipico.com for Terms and Conditions. Place your legal, online sports bets at Tipico. Let’s make this interesting. Bet now!

Cleveland Guardians’ 2022 playoff odds

Will the Guardians make the playoffs: Yes +350 | No -500

PASS because the AL East has four teams better than the Guardians, the Chicago White Sox are rightfully heavy favorites to repeat as AL Central champions and the AL West has at least two better teams than Cleveland.

Even in the inaugural 12-team playoff format, the Guardians will most likely be the odd man out of the playoff race.

Cleveland Guardians’ 2022 win total

Over/Under: 76.5 (O: -115 | U: -110)

BET GUARDIANS OVER 76.5 WINS (-115) because they won 80 games last year with a below-average lineup, mediocre-to-subpar bullpen and an injury to their then-reigning AL Cy Young winner Bieber.

Granted, Cleveland’s lineup will still be league-average but Bieber will be on the mound Opening Day and is a top-3 starter in the AL. Also, the rest of Cleveland’s rotation has shown promise.

For instance, 2016 first-round SP Cal Quantrill was phenomenal in the second half of 2021. Quantrill was 7-1 after the All-Star game with a 1.94 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. The other 3 Guardians starters are in their mid-20s and Cleveland has a proven track record as a pitching factory.

Furthermore, organizational depth is more important than top-notch talent because injuries are unavoidable nowadays. Cleveland’s farm system is ranked ninth in the MLB with four top-100 prospects, according to ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel.

The GUARDIANS OVER 76.5 WINS (-115) is my favorite Cleveland future.

Odds to win AL Central Division

  • Chicago White Sox -220 (bet $220 to win $100)
  • Detroit Tigers +600 (bet $100 to win $600)
  • Minnesota Twins +600 (bet $100 to win $600)
  • Cleveland Guardians +1000 (bet $100 to win $1,000)
  • Kansas City Royals +1500 (bet $100 to win $1,500)

LEAN to the GUARDIANS (+1000) to win the AL Central since they should have the third-best odds to win the division so I see some value in this number.

The Minnesota Twins’ starting rotation is too suspect and the Detroit Tigers finished strong in 2021 but would need too many things to fall into place to win the division.

While I agree the Chicago White Sox should be the clear favorite, they have one of the weakest farm systems in the MLB and I’m not sold on Chicago’s rotation either.

But, it’s only a LEAN to the GUARDIANS (+1000) to win the division since the White Sox have a top-5 lineup and bullpen in baseball and should cruise to a second straight AL Central crown if they stay healthy.

Odds to win American League

Odds: +3000 (bet $100 to win $3,000)

PASS since Cleveland’s only path to the postseason would be stealing the worst division in the AL if Chicago significantly underperforms expectations.

Obviously, if that happens, we might shop for lines for the Guardians to win the pennant at a decent price in October.

Pittsburgh Pirates World Series, win total, pennant and division odds

Looking at the 2022 MLB futures for the Pittsburgh Pirates, including odds for the World Series, pennant, division and projected win total.

Expectations are low for the Pittsburgh Pirates for 2022 after winning just 61 games a year ago.

The Pirates were the worst team in the NL Central, even finishing 10 games back of the 4th-place Chicago Cubs. Pittsburgh didn’t improve much this offseason and will likely be in a similar boat this year.

Below, we look at the Pittsburgh Pirates’ MLB futures odds, including their projected 2022 win total and World Series odds at Tipico Sportsbook.

Pittsburgh Pirates’ 2022 World Series odds

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday, March 31 at 4:57 p.m. ET.

Odds: +30000 (bet $100 to win $30,000)

Pittsburgh has the MLB’s longest odds to win it all. The Los Angeles Dodgers (+480) are the favorites, followed by the Houston Astros (+900).

Pittsburgh (+30000) is tied with the Baltimore Orioles for the longest odds. At +3000, the Pirates have an implied probability of winning the World Series of 0.33% or 300/1 fractional odds.

Backing the Pirates (+30000) to win the World Series for a 300-to-1 payoff is not even worth a small wager.

Pittsburgh Pirates’ 2022 playoff odds

Will Pirates make the playoffs: Yes +1500 | No -10000

Let’s not kid ourselves here. The Pirates had the league’s 3rd-worst ERA last year and will be returning 2 of their 4-pitcher rotation along with getting RP Chase De Jong more innings.

The 28-year-old was 1-4 with a 5.77 ERA in 9 starts last season. So, I’m not sure he’ll help the Bucs too much.

The Pirates lost 1B Colin Moran, whose 10 home runs sadly ranked 3rd on the team in 2021. CF Bryan Reynolds will be back once again, but he can only do so much – he led the club in homers (24), RBIs (90), hits (169) and runs (93) last season.

Nonetheless, expect this team to struggle in 2022.

Pittsburgh Pirates’ 2022 win total

Over/Under: 64.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

The Pirates were ranked the 4th-best farm system by MLB.com’s Jake Crouse in a column last August.

Prospects like C Henry Davis and RHP Quinn Priester might be able to take that next step. While the playoffs are still a pipe dream, improving just a bit on last year’s 61-101 season is possible.

The Pirates ranked last in the majors in runs scored per game and home runs last year. The front office hopes new hitting coach Andy Haines, formerly with the Brewers, can help mend those woes. Milwaukee had the 11th-most RBIs and 18th-most home runs last season. Haines should help bring some form of that success to Pittsburgh.

The Pirates are in a division in which 3 of the 5 teams likely won’t be competitive, potentially opening the way for every team to look toward their farm teams for strength.

Nonetheless, they could snag some easy wins as the season winds down and show some minor improvement from a year ago.

I’m willing to bet OVER 64.5 (-115).

Odds to win NL Central Division

  • Milwaukee Brewers -180 (bet $180 to win $100)
  • St. Louis Cardinals +220 (bet $100 to win $220)
  • Chicago Cubs +1200 (bet $100 to win $1,200)
  • Cincinnati Reds +1300 (bet $100 to win $1,300)
  • Pittsburgh Pirates +6000 (bet $100 to win $6,000)

Pittsburgh’s implied probability of winning the NL Central is 1.64% or 60/1 fractional odds. The Brewers and Cardinals are the only threats here, and there’s no fun in betting the heavy underdog in a season several months long.

PASS.

Odds to win National League

Odds: +10000 (bet $100 to win $10,000)

The Pirates just don’t have a team capable of winning the NL, let alone the NL Central.

The implied probability of this happen is 0.99% and the fractional odds are 100/1, so there isn’t much chance it happens.

With not-so-great pitching and lack of firepower at the plate, betting Pittsburgh to win the NL pennant is a PASS.

2022 Chicago Cubs World Series, win total, pennant and division odds

Looking at the 2022 MLB futures for the Chicago Cubs including odds for the World Series, pennant, division and projected win total.

Six straight years of winning records (2015-20) came to a screeching halt when the 2021 Chicago Cubs scored 4.35 runs per game and allowed 5.18 RPG en route to going 71-91 (.438). And that’s with a fine 19-8 month of May in the mix.

Pitching was the major problem. Cubs starters clocked a 5.27 ERA, and the Chicago bullpen logged the fourth-most innings in the league. In their last 97 games, the club went 33-64 with a 5.71 ERA. For the season, the Cubs were 18-31 in games decided by 5 runs-or-more.

So, a rebuild is underway. Below, we look at the Chicago Cubs MLB futures odds, including their projected 2022 win total and World Series odds at Tipico Sportsbook.

Chicago Cubs 2022 World Series odds

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday, March 31 at 3:21 p.m. ET.

Odds: +9000 (bet $100 to win $9,000)

The Los Angeles Dodgers (+480) are the favorites, followed by the Houston Astros (+900) and Toronto Blue Jays (+900).

At +9000, Chicago has an implied probability of winning the World Series of 1.1% or 90/1 fractional odds. Only five clubs (Colorado Rockies, Washington Nationals, Arizona Diamondbacks, Baltimore Orioles, Pittsburgh Pirates) are listed at longer odds.

Books also over-pump their league-pennant and World Series markets, meaning the combined implied win percentages of all 30 clubs will exceed 100%. This inflation is even more pronounced with options at the bottom of the tote board. There is no value in a Cubs play here: PASS.

Chicago Cubs 2022 playoff odds

Will the Cubs make the playoffs: Yes +500 | No -847

An awfully wide gap between these tags: PASS.

Chicago Cubs 2022 win total

Over/Under: 74.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

The Cubs made some notable additions in the offseason. Versatile OF Seiya Suzuki — formerly of the Nippon Professional Baseball League — was inked to a five-year, $85 million contract. SS Andrelton Simmons — a defensive standout — was acquired to provide some middle-infield depth.

1B Frank Schwindel put up a half-season of exciting numbers in 2021 (.346 batting average, 14 home runs, 43 RBIs), and that also has things looking up for the Chicago offense. Add SP Marcus Stroman to the rotation and the upside here is rebuilding plus some talented cornerstones as a solid foundation.

The lean here is a small one, so if Chicago becomes part of your futures mix, consider a partial-unit on this one. But there is some slight value in the OVER 74.5 (-115), especially in what figures to be a Milwaukee Brewers-dominated NL Central. The slew of games against the other three also-rans make for just enough upside here.

Odds to win NL Central Division

  • Milwaukee Brewers -170 (bet $170 to win $100)
  • St. Louis Cardinals +220 (bet $100 to win $220)
  • Chicago Cubs +1200 (bet $100 to win $1,200)
  • Cincinnati Reds +1300 (bet $100 to win $1,300)
  • Pittsburgh Pirates +5000 (bet $100 to win $5,000)

Chicago’s implied probability of winning the NL Central is 7.69% or 12/1 fractional odds. PASS, but keep an eye on this one. With this allotment of clubs, this Cubs squad is worth a line watch. The Cubs are worth a look at +1300.

Odds to win National League

Odds: +4000 (bet $100 to win $4,000)

The Cubs are in a fourth tier of pricing in the wagering for the NL pennant.  The second and third tiers (options like the Brewers, Atlanta Braves, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, and Cardinals) have prices that offer better leverage. PASS.

2022 St. Louis Cardinals World Series, win total, pennant and division odds

Looking at the 2022 MLB futures for the St. Louis Cardinals, including odds for the World Series, pennant, division and projected win total.

Big things are expected out of the St. Louis Cardinals in 2022.

The Cardinals ripped off 17 straight wins and earned a National League Wild Card after appearing as though they were out of the playoff picture in 2021. While St. Louis did lose 3-1 to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Wild Card Game, it will look to bring that confidence into 2022.

Below, we look at the St. Louis Cardinals’ MLB futures odds, including their projected 2022 win total and World Series odds at Tipico Sportsbook.

St. Louis Cardinals’ 2022 World Series odds

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday, March 31 at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Odds: +3000 (bet $100 to win $3000)

St. Louis has the 13th shortest odds to win it all, tied with the Seattle Mariners and Philadelphia Phillies. The Los Angeles Dodgers (+480) are the favorites, followed by the Houston Astros (+900).

At +3000, St. Louis has an implied probability of winning the World Series of 3.2% or 30/1 fractional odds. The Baltimore Orioles, Pittsburgh Pirates and Arizona Diamondbacks have the longest odds at +20000.

Cardinals have good value here considering St. Louis has reached the playoffs in eight of its last 11 seasons, including the last three years. Backing the CARDINALS (+3000) to win the World Series for a 30-to-1 payoff is worth a small wager.

St. Louis Cardinals’ 2022 playoff odds

Will Cardinals make the playoffs: Yes -110 | No -110

The Cardinals are bringing back a roster largely the same from their 90-win 2021 campaign.

St. Louis is going to be led in pitching by veteran RHP Adam Wainwright. However, a lack of depth in the Cardinals rotation and injuries woes to ace RHP Jack Flaherty and closer RHP Alex Reyes could draw problems for St. Louis.

23-year-old RF Dylan Carlson is expected to play a large part in the team’s success as well, having finished third in NL Rookie of the Year voting last season.

Assuming he can take a sizable jump and the Cardinals can maintain their core batters, there’s a good chance St. Louis can be a playoff team. St. Louis has made the playoffs in three straight seasons and in eight of the last 11 years.

At -110, it has a 52.4% implied probability of happening, and I’ll take those odds. BET the CARDINALS TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS (-110).

St. Louis Cardinals’ 2022 win total

Over/Under: 85.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

The Cardinals won 90 games last season and have gone over 85.5 in the last three seasons which the MLB has had a full year.

Considering they brought back veterans mixed with some young, up-and-coming prospects like Carlson, St. Louis is primed for a strong season.

Its rotational depth is concerning, but considering Reyes, one of the league’s best closers, should be back early in the season, I expect a strong season for St. Louis.

I prefer the Cardinals to make the playoffs, but BETTING ST. LOUIS OVER 85.5 WINS (-110) is a strong play as well.

Win your fantasy baseball league with BaseballHQ.com. For decades, BHQ has been helping players just like you win! Use the couple code SBW22 for $15 OFF a Draft Prep or full-season subscription. New customer offer; expires 4/30/2022. Subscribe today and start winning!

Odds to win NL Central Division

  • Milwaukee Brewers -170 (bet $170 to win $100)
  • St. Louis Cardinals +210 (bet $100 to win $210)
  • Chicago Cubs +1200 (bet $100 to win $1,200)
  • Cincinnati Reds +1300 (bet $100 to win $1,200)
  • Pittsburgh Pirates +6000 (bet $100 to win $5,000)

St. Louis’s implied probability of winning the NL Central is 32.26% or 21/10 fractional odds.

The Cardinals are the only threat other than the Brewers here, but I would still play the wins or to-make-the-playoffs over their divisional odds as Milwaukee is coming into the year with a stacked roster.

PASS.

Odds to win National League

Odds: +1200 (bet $100 to win $1200)

I’d pass on this one.

If the Cardinals can get to and stay at full strength, they would undoubtedly have a chance to in the National League. However, we already know they will start the season without an ace and down their top closer.

That could spell trouble that may set them behind early.

While the season-long outlook for their wins and playoff odds still remains intact, their ability to top the league is another matter, and at +1200, I would go with a PASS.

Milwaukee Brewers World Series, win total, pennant and division odds

Looking at the 2022 MLB futures for the Milwaukee Brewers, including odds for the World Series, pennant, division and projected win total.

The Milwaukee Brewers were projected to finish third in the National League Central in 2021, but ended up taking home the division title with 95 wins. The top three in the rotation led the way, highlighted by SP Corbin Burnes and his Cy Young Award.

No huge moves were made during the offseason, but OF Hunter Renfroe and OF Andrew McCutchen were brought on board. Renfroe hit 31 home runs with Boston last season and could add to that total in his new hitter-friendly home park.

Below, we look at the Milwaukee Brewers MLB futures odds, including their projected 2022 win total and World Series odds at Tipico Sportsbook.

Milwaukee Brewers 2022 World Series odds

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday, March 31 at 1:21 a.m. ET.

Odds: +1200 (bet $100 to win $1,200)

Milwaukee is tied with the Chicago White Sox, New York Yankees, and New York Mets with the fourth shortest odds to win it all. The only teams ranked ahead are the Los Angeles Dodgers at +480 and the Houston Astros and Toronto Blue Jays at +900.

The Brewers are heavy favorites to win their division, and they certainly have the pitching to make a deep run in the playoffs. Not many teams can match up to their trio of starters that includes Burnes, Brandon Woodruff, and Freddy Peralta. Eric Lauer gives them a viable fourth option as well, and Aaron Ashby has electric stuff but a still-to-be-determined role.

Backing the BREWERS (+1200) to win the World Series for a 12-to-1 payoff looks like a risk worth taking.

Milwaukee Brewers 2022 playoff odds

Will Brewers make the playoffs: Yes -250 | No +200

Milwaukee was one of MLB’s top teams in 2021 and should be among the league’s best again in 2022. With the Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, and Pittsburgh Pirates in various stages of a rebuild, the Brewers find themselves in a pretty weak division.

It would qualify as a major surprise if Milwaukee failed to be among the 12 teams to make it to the postseason. Lock in BREWERS -250  and watch them coast into the playoffs.

Milwaukee Brewers 2022 win total

Over/Under: 88.5 (O: -125 | U: -105)

Milwaukee won 95 games a season ago, which tied for fourth best in all of baseball, though their +115 run differential ranked eighth best. Their offense should be a little better in 2022, as they’ll get a full season of SS Wily Adames and should get some level of rebound from both OF Christian Yelich and 1B Keston Hiura.

In a division where at least three teams figure to finish below .500, the Brewers should be able to continue piling up the wins on a consistent basis. Go with OVER 88.5.

Odds to win NL East Division

  • Milwaukee Brewers -170 (bet $170 to win $100)
  • St. Louis Cardinals +210 (bet $100 to win $210)
  • Chicago Cubs +1200 (bet $100 to win $1,200)
  • Cincinnati Reds +1300 (bet $100 to win $1,300)
  • Pittsburgh Pirates +6000 (bet $100 to win $6,000)

Milwaukee finished five games ahead of St. Louis in 2021, and that appears to be the only team with a realistic shot of pushing them for the NL Central crown this season.

The Brewers have a huge edge on all of their divisional rivals in the rotation and also boast one of the best 1-2 punches out of the bullpen in RP Josh Hader and RP Devin Williams. They deserve to be heavily favored and BREWERS -170  is a strong play.

Odds to win National League

Odds: +550 (bet $100 to win $550)

The Brewers made an early exit in the playoffs last season, knocked out in four games by the eventual champion Braves in the Division series. Milwaukee has quality and depth all around, and is built for a long playoff run on the backs of its three aces in the rotation. Get in on BREWERS +550, as this could be the year they get to the World Series.

2022 Kansas City Royals World Series, win total, pennant and division odds

Looking at the 2022 MLB futures for the Kansas City Royals, including odds for the World Series, pennant, division and projected win total.

Last season the Kansas City Royals went 74-88, averaging 4.23 runs per game and allowing 4.26. K.C. went 15-9 in April, then scuffled in May and June, playing .327 ball over a stretch of 55 games. The Royals played .500 ball in July, August, and September.

Starting pitching was an issue holding Kansas City back in 2021. Royals starters had a 4.97 ERA; only three teams in the AL fared worse. The club’s pitching staff was quite young, so the Royals are looking to build on last season and move forward.

In the offseason, Kansas City added one-time Royals SP Zack Greinke through free agency and RP Amir Garrett in a trade. They are looking for those hurlers to recapture some former glory and bolster the now-a-year-older young arms in the rotation and bullpen. Below, we look at the Kansas City Royals MLB futures odds, including their projected 2022 win total and World Series odds at Tipico Sportsbook.

Kansas City Royals 2022 World Series odds

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday, March 30 at 1:01 p.m. ET.

Odds: +8000 (bet $100 to win $8,000)

Kansas City fits into the bottom third of the league at those odds. The Los Angeles Dodgers (+480) are the favorites, followed by the Houston Astros (+900) and Toronto Blue Jays (+900). At +8000, K.C. has an implied probability of winning the World Series of 1.23% or 80/1 fractional odds. Only seven clubs have longer odds.

Things get muddy in the deep end of the odds pool, and books can more easily pad house take into the bigger payoffs (ie, listing a 100-to-1 shot at 80-to-1). Your futures bankroll is better spent elsewhere: PASS.

Kansas City Royals 2022 playoff odds

Will the Royals make the playoffs: Yes +450 | No -649

The AL field at the top — and even in parts of the middle — is too strong to consider a Yes play. At such a price No is not advisable.

Kansas City Royals 2022 win total

Over/Under: 75.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Several prominent projection systems peg the Royals around 74-76 wins. Last year’s team was 6 games over-.500 in April despite being minus-2 in run differential. K.C. was .500 each month from July-September while allowing more runs than what it scored.

The talent level of the AL Central makes for some gray area, basically because a “73-win team” can win 70 or 78 games. One-run games and other fluctuations make for some luck. But if this 2022 Royals season were played out 10 times, figure enough win totals landing around 73 or 74 wins to make that the lean.

It’s a small lean: consider a partial-unit play on the UNDER 75.5 (-110).

Odds to win AL Central Division

  • Chicago White Sox -220 (bet $220 to win $100)
  • Detroit Tigers +600 (bet $100 to win $600)
  • Minnesota Twins +600 (bet $100 to win $600)
  • Cleveland Guardians +1000 (bet $100 to win $1,000)
  • Kansas City Royals +1500 (bet $100 to win $1,500)

Kansas City’s implied probability of winning the AL Central is 6.25% or 15/1 fractional odds. The Royals are almost no threat. They would need to take last year’s April and string two or three of those together in a wildly unlikely half-season hot streak. PASS.

Odds to win American League

Odds: +4000 (bet $100 to win $4,000)

The breakdown of the American League overall puts so many eggs in the baskets of clubs like the Astros, Blue Jays, White Sox, and Yankees. The Royals may be more of a consideration in a big favorite-and-all-others situation.

STEER CLEAR.

2022 Detroit Tigers World Series, win total, pennant and division odds

Looking at the 2022 MLB futures for the Detroit Tigers, including odds for the World Series, pennant, division and projected win total.

The Detroit Tigers went 77-85 last season, scoring 4.30 runs per game while allowing 4.67. But after going 9-24 through their first 33 games, the Tigers did go seven games over-.500 (68-61) after May 8.

The Tigers front office clearly saw the 2021 surge as ammunition for ramping up a rebuild effort that had been underway and Detroit spent some money in the free-agent market. Fans of a franchise that lost 114 games in 2019 are now filled with some modest hopes for 2022. Below, we look at the Detroit Tigers MLB futures odds, including their projected 2022 win total and World Series odds at Tipico Sportsbook.

Detroit Tigers 2022 World Series odds

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday, March 30 at 11:25 a.m. ET.

Odds: +4000 (bet $100 to win $4,000)

This price puts the Tigers in the middle third among the 30 MLB clubs. The Los Angeles Dodgers (+480) are the favorites, followed by the Houston Astros (+900) and Toronto Blue Jays (+900). At +4000, Detroit has an implied probability of winning the World Series of 2.44% or 40/1 fractional odds.

This is in the right ballpark … but not the right section. Or, if its like old Tiger Stadium, there may be a pole obstruction. The Tigers are too near teams like the St. Louis Cardinals (+3000), Los Angeles Angels (+3000), and Minnesota Twins (+4000), when they ought to match up more with teams like the Texas Rangers (+7000) and Cleveland Guardians (+7000).

While its reasonable to think that starved-and-spending Detroit would leverage a good start and push in a lot of chips on winning a title, a tag north of 50-to-1 looks to be unwarranted. PASS.

Bet now!

Detroit Tigers 2022 playoff odds

Will the Tigers make the playoffs: Yes +330 | No -450

Too much has to go right with a still-unproven Detroit starting rotation. And the AL East figures to color much of the wild-card picture. BACK THE NO (-450).

Detroit Tigers 2022 win total

Over/Under: 78.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Additions of SS Javier Baez, SP Eduardo Rodriguez, and RP Andrew Chafin appear to move the needle enough to get the Motor City Kitties near .500. Or maybe even over .500 in a could-be-dodgy AL Central.

But peg last year’s win total as being a couple of more than would be expected or deserved by underlying metrics. THE UNDER 78.5 (-110) IS A LEAN. Consider a partial-unit play and a line watch for an even higher win total. Then pounce — like a Tiger — on the easier-to-leverage 79.5 or 80 wins.

Odds to win AL Central Division

  • Chicago White Sox -220 (bet $220 to win $100)
  • Detroit Tigers +600 (bet $100 to win $600)
  • Minnesota Twins +600 (bet $100 to win $600)
  • Cleveland Guardians +1000 (bet $100 to win $1,000)
  • Kansas City Royals +1500 (bet $100 to win $1,500)

Chicago’s implied probability of winning the AL Central is 68.75% or 9/20 fractional odds. The Twins and Tigers are pegged at 14.29% (6/1). That’s likely giving some percentage points back to the book. A 10-12% probability — so, perhaps a +750 return — would offer a little value to the bettor. Even that view may be too optimistic. PASS.

Odds to win American League

Odds: +2000 (bet $100 to win $2,000)

This proposition likens to the World Series analysis in halved miniature. Figure 25-to-1 (+2500) odds as being a starting point to having any value leverage.

The AL East contenders (Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, Boston Red Sox) will loom large in eating up much of the probability-percentage pie. So will the Houston Astros out of the West and the Chicago White Sox out of the Central. Mix in some down-the-ticket contenders like the Angels and maybe the Seattle Mariners, and the +2000 on the Tigers does not offer enough return for the risk. PASS.
