Virginia Cavaliers guard Trey Murphy III has reportedly worked out for the Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs ahead of the NBA draft, according to Chris Grenham of Forbes.

Murphy, who this week signed with an agent, is among 60-plus prospects attending the NBA draft combine in Chicago, Illinois. He said on Thursday he has also interviewed with several other teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers.

Of course, with the pre-draft process in the early stages, Murphy will have the opportunity to continue to work out privately with teams. The process typically ramps up once the combine finishes, which will be on Sunday.

Murphy was named to the All-ACC Academic Team after averaging 11.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 25 games last season. He shot 50.3% from the field and 43.3% from 3-point range, ranking seventh among all ACC players in 3-pointers made (2.1) per game.

The 6-foot-9 standout is most commonly projected to be a late first-round pick, but he can certainly improve his stock with strong showings in workouts and interviews. Teams will covet his shooting from beyond the arc. That alone could be enough to get him taken in the first round.

Murphy is projected to be selected 28th in the Rookie Wire NBA mock draft.
