Steelers withhold 50% of game ticket supply due to social distancing precautions

Tickets on sale for Pittsburgh Steelers home games will be limited.

Individual tickets went on sale Friday morning for Pittsburgh Steelers home games, but as a precaution, only half are being made available for purchase.

“We are being proactive with these limited amount of tickets as we are preparing for possible social distancing scenarios at Heinz Field this year,” Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten announced via Twitter.

Any tickets not sold will be made available for purchase at a later date.

Though the NFL is planning to play its entire season as scheduled, contingency plans are in place in case games are postponed or canceled because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell sent the 32 teams a memo on May 6 that detailed a ticket refund policy in the event games are not played or take place with a limit on the number of fans in attendance.

Ticket holders who purchased directly from the club will be entitled to a full refund or a credit toward future ticket purchases.

Fans can purchase up to eight tickets per household in any combination of the eight regular-season games. For the two preseason games, there is no ticket limit.

The Steelers will continue their variable pricing plan that was implemented in 2014. Variable pricing essentially means that fans will pay more for the same seat for games versus opponents with good records from the previous season than they will for teams like the Bengals and the Redskins.

Here’s what that looks like, according to Joe Rutter of Trib Live:

Premier: Philadelphia Eagles (Week 5), Baltimore Ravens (Week 12).

Black: Denver (Week 2), Cleveland (Week 6), Indianapolis (Week 16).

Gold: Houston (Week 3), Cincinnati (Week 10), Washington (Week 13).

Preseason: Tampa Bay (Week 1), New Orleans (Week 2).

Steelers put together awesome schedule compilation on TikTok

Check out this great TikTok video on the Steelers schedule.

The folks who handle the Pittsburgh Steelers variety of social media accounts are underrated. Their latest work on TikTok is pretty impressive. The Steelers put out a video compilation going over their 2020 schedule with a different Steelers dancing and music to match for each opponent.

We particularly like the rendition of Cotton-eyed Joe for the Dallas Cowboys and Old Town Road for the Denver Broncos.

As of now, the Steelers are set to kick off the regular season with a road game on Monday Night Football against the New York Giants.

Ranking the 5 toughest games on the Steelers 2020 schedule

What Steelers game is the toughest this season?

Mandatory Credit: Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

If you are trying to decide how difficult the Pittsburgh Steelers 2020 schedule is, there are two ways to look at it. Based on last season’s win/loss records, the Steelers have one of the easiest schedules in the league. But if you look at projected wins for 2020 based on betting odds, they have the seventh hardest schedule.

Here are the five toughest games on the Steelers 2020 schedule.

5-Week 16 vs Indianapolis Colts

The only home game in our rankings, the Colts presents an interesting challenge very late in the season. The addition of Philip Rivers makes this a much more dangerous team and there could be huge implications in the AFC playoff picture with this game.

2020 Steelers schedule: Ranking the 3 easiest games

Steelers Wire takes a look at what could potentially be the three easiest games on the Pittsburgh Steelers 2020 slate.

A tradition of many football fanatics is to comb through the schedule after it’s released and predict which games might be tough and which might be a cakewalk. While it’s challenging to get a feel for how teams will perform before the season starts, it’s still a fun exercise.

Here’s our ranking on the three easiest games on the Steelers 2020 schedule.

3 – Week 11 @ Jacksonville Jaguars

Sure, the Steelers have struggled versus “Duval” in the past, but they’re no longer your grandma’s Jaguars. They’re falling apart at the seams and appear to be without an identity.

The black and gold have more wins at TIAA Bank Field than they do at home versus the Jags. The defense will harass quarterback Gardner Minshew and take advantage of multiple turnovers to win the game.
