Boston Celtics two way center Tacko Fall’s recent trip to the zoo wasn’t just a lark, but was one of the first things he’s been able to do with his family for a very long time, it turns out.
In a video produced for the Boston Celtics’ YouTube page, Fall was shown enjoying Boston’s Franklin Park Zoo with his family, interviewed by team reporter Amanda Pflugrad.
What was Fall’s favorite part about his zoo visit?
“First it was nice to spend some time with them, being away in the bubble for so long and they’ve been around in Boston over here the whole time,” shared the 7-foot-5 big man.
“We really didn’t get much time to spend together, and they are going back soon, [my mother is] going back home soon, and [my brother’s] going back to school so and then Heather [Walker from Celtics media relations] has been trying to find different things to do and I thought [the zoo] would be fun so it was great.”
While the lions and tigers — “so majestic,” shared the 7-foot-5 big man. — were his favorite part of the zoo trip, Fall was just happy to be in one place with his family.
Normally, while his brother is in school in the U.S., his mother is normally back home in Africa.
“I think I have a bad [time], but she has it worse, because at least my little brother is close, but she’s all the way in Senegal — it’s like 6,000 miles away, and to have children over here? She’s really sharp. So, for her I’m sure it’s very special to be able to spend some time with us.”
Who’s crying? We’re not crying.
In seriousness though, this was truly a special reward for the hard work the UCF product put in over his rookie campaign, and if he keeps on the trajectory he’s carved out for himself since arriving in the states all those years ago…
We suspect travel to see family will cease to be as significant of an obstacle for the fan favorite big man.
