Tacko Fall to miss 1-2 weeks after suffering right knee injury

The Celtics two-way rookie suffered an injury to his right knee playing against the Memphis Hustle on Monday night.

Boston Celtics two-way rookie Tacko Fall will miss approximately 1-2 weeks after sustaining a bone bruise on his right knee, the Maine Red Claws announced on Wednesday.

The 7-foot-5 center apparently suffered the injury on Monday night playing against the Memphis Hustle. Based on the initial timetable given by the Red Claws, Fall could miss as many as five games if he sits out for two weeks of action.

Fall played magnificently against the Hustle after recording 16 points and 18 rebounds during the 119-96 loss. His 14 offensive rebounds in the contest set the Red Claws franchise record, topping the previous record of 12 set by Chris Wright and James Mays in 2013.

Fall previously tweaked a knee before the start of training camp while going up for a block during practice though it is not known which knee he injured. He returned to basketball activities a week later and has not shown any lingering issues since then.

Fall also missed time during the preseason with the Celtics after entering the concussion protocol program. He told reporters that he hit his head on a low ceiling at the team’s practice facility and woke up the following day with concussion symptoms.

Given his size, Fall remained relatively healthy during his four years in college at UCF. He missed half of the 2017-18 season with a shoulder injury and returned to full health for his senior campaign last season for the Knights.

Fall is averaging 15 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.7 blocks in six games this season with the Red Claws.
