Dabo Swinney shared an injury update on Tyler Venables as the Tigers prepare for their matchup against North Carolina.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney shared an injury update on safety Tyler Venables during his weekly Tuesday press conference, delivering some good news on the veteran Tiger.

According to Swinney, Venables is is back and will be ready to go for this week’s matchup against North Carolina. Some great news for a Clemson secondary that has been playing well this season.

“He’s back. They released him this week, so he’s back and he’ll be available,” Swinney said. “Obviously hasn’t played, but he did scout team last week. In fact, he was scout team player of the week. Imagine that. So, that was good to see.”

“Everybody loves T-Bone, man. He’s been a coach for us,” Swinney said. “I mean he’s been on the headset. He’s been working out there. I think he’s really enjoyed that. He’s going to be a great coach one day. I think it’s been a good perspective for him as we’ve gone through games and stuff. But he’s excited. He’s worked really, really hard to get back.”

Since joining the Tigers, Venables has dealt with multiple injuries but has been productive when on the field. Over 34 games, he has  recorded 98 tackles (5.5 for loss), a sack, an interception and seven pass breakup.

“He’s been through a lot with his labrum and his hip, his groin and torn hamstrings and all that stuff,” Swinney said. “So, we’ll have him available and see how it goes.”
