We’ve all heard about life imitating art, and in pro wrestling, art sometimes imitates real life. But what about art imitating other art? That appears to be the case for Swerve Strickland.
Already widely thought of as one of AEW’s rising stars, Strickland has seen his profile raised even higher thanks to his recent feud with Hangman Adam Page. Their program culminated (we think) in spectacularly violent fashion at Full Gear, when Swerve topped Hangman in a bloody Texas Death match.
In the build to that match, one segment that required a level of suspension of disbelief rare even for weekly wrestling TV saw Strickland and right-hand man Prince Nana pay a visit to Page’s house. While his son was never shown, the implication was that Swerve was in his child’s nursery, certainly one of the most menacingly over the top personal threats in recent memory.
That makes the trailer for Strickland’s horror movie debut, “Night of the Missing,” hit a bit different.

“Night of the Missing” is an anthology film, and Strickland’s segment, “You Promised,” sure looks like it will see him help stage a home invasion — though to rough up someone who owes money, not to further a wrestling feud.
Swerve is busy for the moment in the AEW Continental Classic tournament, where he was victorious in his first round robin match and figures to be one of the favorites to win the whole thing. While you enjoy his work there, you can check out his movie on Amazon Prime Video or Screambox and see if there are any other parallels you can draw with his day job.
