Fans at Mohegan Sun Arena were not thrilled that Indiana Fever coach Christie Sides pulled rookie guard Caitlin Clark midway through the third quarter of their Monday night game against the Connecticut Sun.
It’s very, very rare that you hear an arena start chants for genuinely wanting to see an opposing player, but the Clark effect has fans from all over the country hoping to see her play as much as possible.
Clark did hit one of her signature logo 3-pointers for the Connecticut crowd, but she got into foul trouble during the third quarter and didn’t go back into what was ultimately a 89-72 loss for Indiana.
According to Indianapolis Star sports reporter Chloe Peterson, “We want Caitlin!” chants broke out in the arena while she was on the sideline late in Monday’s contest.

While this might’ve been a good coaching decision for Sides to give Clark a break on one of her less prolific outings in the WNBA so far, that didn’t make the fans who came there to see Clark happy that she wasn’t playing.
We’re not sure we’re ever going to get used to opposing arenas chanting to see Clark, but she’s bringing in her fans wherever she goes. Even on the road, her fans want to see the Fever rookie play as much as possible.
