The will-he or won’t-he wonders of the past 72 hours have officially ended.
According to college reporting website On3 Sports, talented Texas A&M defensive lineman Walter Nolen officially entered the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday afternoon around 3 p.m. CT. It was reported on Sunday that the sophomore superstar would enter the portal when it opened Monday; it just took a couple extra days.
ESPN reporter Tom VanHareen reported Monday morning that Nolen told him Sunday night that he was “leaning” towards entering the portal. Three days later, it’s officially official.

Nolen was among the highest-rated players in the Aggies’ 2022 recruiting class, which ranked No. 1 in the nation. Former Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher tallied eight 5-star signees and 20 more 4-star recruits.
With the departure of Fisher and interim head coach Elijah Robinson, who is leaving the program after the season to become defensive coordinator at Syracuse, players like Nolen are using the portal to weigh their options.
The dynamic DL is 1-of-11 Aggies that have entered the portal, including five on Wednesday. Nolen has tallied 66 tackles (37 solos), five sacks and a forced fumble during two seasons at Texas A&M. This year, he increased his production with totals of 37 tackles and four sacks.
