Super Bowl predictions and picks

SportsbookWire staff members make their 2021 Super Bowl 55 predictions.

If we were to rewind six months or so, I would have had a hard time saying Super Bowl LV would be happening today. The deck was stacked against the NFL… you know, pandemic and all. Yet, here we are – on schedule – with the biggest sports betting event of the year about to go down and all of us making our Super Bowl 55 predictions. The NFL deserves a round of applause for making everything work with little disruption along the way.

The 2021 Super Bowl kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET today, as the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers duke it out for the championship. Patrick Mahomes vs. Tom Brady. You know the story, so I won’t bore you with the backdrop. Beyond that, we’re in for one hell of a game.

What. a. delicious. treat.

I polled our SBW staff on how they see the Super Bowl playing out, and here’s what they had to say:

SportsbookWire staff Super Bowl LV Predictions and Picks

Esten McLaren Super Bowl pick

Kansas City Chiefs 33, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28: Esten’s full Super Bowl LV breakdown can be found here.

Cameron DaSilva Super Bowl pick

Kansas City Chiefs 31, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 27: Kansas City’s defense will fool Tom Brady into a mistake or two that will prove to be the difference. And Patrick Mahomes will continue to do Patrick Mahomes things on the biggest stage.

Jess Root Super Bowl pick

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 27, Kansas City Chiefs 24: With OT Eric Fisher out for the Chiefs, the Tampa Bay pass rush will give Patrick Mahomes some trouble, and Tom Brady will make plays late in the game for an upset win for his seventh title.

Johnny Parlay Super Bowl pick

Kansas City Chiefs 36, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24: Brady, Schmady. I’m not getting sucked in by the Tom Brady hype. I’ll admit he’s the G.O.A.T., but I’m siding with Kansas City’s unstoppable offense.

Ryan Bonini Super Bowl pick

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 32, Kansas City Chiefs 31: Before the playoffs began, I had a dream the Chiefs beat the Bucs 32-31. Considering I’m pretty sure I’m not clairvoyant and I’ve been bullish on the Bucs all year, I’m taking the approach I misread the dream scoreboard. While most of my bet slips are on the Bucs ML, I have hedged with some Bucs ATS slips recently, too, just in case I actually can dream the future…
