The Kansas City Chiefs have added some new artwork at their practice facility.
The team recently unveiled their Super Bowl Champions logo at the training field at the University of Kansas Health System Training Complex. It’s a reminder not just of their most recent win in Super Bowl LIV, but also a way to recognize the franchises first win in Super Bowl IV.
On Monday, Chiefs DT Chris Jones spoke to the media and shared what it meant to him to see that logo every day at practice.
“It’s special, man. It took 50 years to get it, 50 years,” Jones told reporters. “When you look at it, it makes you want to reach that goal again. When you see that you were able to accomplish that and look at all the hard work you put in last year, it makes you want to do it again this year. You have that hunger even more. For me, it’s a little bit of motivation for me. It makes me want to reach that goal again.”
That logo evokes some serious emotions in Jones. It serves as a reminder of all of the hard work and dedication that it took to become a Super Bowl champion. Most importantly, as the team attempts to run it back for a repeat title, it motivates Jones to want to do it all over again. It makes him hungry for more glory.
Jones probably isn’t alone in feeling this way either. Every player who participated in the Super Bowl win is hungry. Even the players who didn’t play in Super Bowl LIV, they now have a constant reminder that they’re playing for a champion as they practice. If they’re not giving their full effort, all they have to do is look up to the logo to remind themselves of what’s at stake during the upcoming season. That extra bit of effort can be all the difference between becoming a champion and going another 50 years without a title.
