Suni Lee advances to All-Around final at Paris Olympics

Lee finished third in Sunday’s All-Around competition with a 56.132.

Team USA gymnast [autotag]Suni Lee[/autotag] continues dominating the Olympic Games competition.

On Sunday, the former Auburn star scored 56.132 in the All-Around competition, which was high enough to earn a third-place overall finish and a spot on Thursday’s All-Around final. She earned the slot by finishing third on bars (14.866) and fourth on beam (14.033).

USA TODAY’s Nancy Armour and Tom Schad say that Lee’s performance on bars is what ultimately lifted her to a spot in the All-Around finals.

(Jordan) Chiles was narrowly ahead of Lee going into the group’s final rotation, uneven bars — but unfortunately for her, that happens to be Lee’s best event. And the reigning Olympic all-around champion delivered. In a pressure-packed moment, she registered a score of 14.866 — six-tenths better than Chiles — to squeak into the second all-around qualification spot.

Lee will join Simone Biles at the All-Around finals on Thursday at 11:15 CT. While we wait to watch Lee compete again, take a look at the best images from Lee’s stay in Paris so far.
