Wednesday night delivered a frightening series of events in NBA that started with chaos at the game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Utah Jazz when Rudy Gobert was revealed to have been diagnosed with coronavirus and ended with the season being suspended.
Cameras captured the shock of Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban at the decision, and thanks to a livestream, we got to see how Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker felt in real time to hearing about the stunning news.
Now, on Thursday morning, current and former players from around the league shared their thoughts on Twitter. Here’s a roundup:
Man we cancelling sporting events, school, office work, etc etc. What we really need to cancel is 2020! 🤦🏾‍♂️. Damn it’s been a rough 3 months. God bless and stay safe🙏🏾

2020 aint it. Don't know what to compare this situation to…just gotta buckle up and take care of yourself and those around you. Basketball will be back at some point but right now, protect yourself and stay safe out there!

Such a weird night but I am truly thankful for each and every person during this 22yr journey.
If this is really it, I thank everyone for your love and support for all these years.

Thoughts are with everyone affected by this, directly and indirectly (people who can’t work and support their families because of the league suspension.) Take this seriously and make sure to take all the necessary precautions!!!

I hope all the players take some time to really work on life outside of basketball . Using your resources and celebrity to your advantage . Take the meetings. Diversify and learn to explore other avenues of income while you’re still in the league. Bc when it’s over it’s over !

I’m still in shock!

Feel bad for everyone working in the arenas that won’t get pay during this suspension. Also for the homeless and those in prison that will be second/third thoughts in these time. Prayers up.

Well I just hope this will not last long, and I hope everyone stays safe! Take care people, be smart and don’t panic that doesn’t help!
See you soon! 🤗💜— Bogdan Bogdanovic (@LeaderOfHorde) March 12, 2020
Absolutely! We all have fun playing and watching NBA games, but many of our hard working hourly employees and support staff depend on wages from our home games. We’re going to make sure that they’re taken care of! Even if I have to pay out of pocket to help out https://t.co/WMb3tEq5Gt

You all will get through this.
On a lighter note , @Lakers had the ring this year . What you think ?This was my favorite @NBA season I’ve ever witnessed
— Metta World Peace (@MettaWorld37) March 12, 2020
The @NBA has made the right decision to put all games on pause until they can find a scenario where everyone is as safe as possible. This is unprecedented and we should act that way. 🙏🏾
