Stock Up, Stock Down: Which Cowboys investments paid off?

The second-year WR had a breakout season, amassing 1,107 yards and six scores. Gallup established himself as a big-play deep threat the Cowboys had been missing, averaging 16.8 yards a catch, good for seventh best in the league. The future is bright for Gallup with the Cowboys.

It was a setback season for Awuzie, who was picked on all year long. He was frequently beat on deep passes and when he was in position to make a play, Awuzie couldn’t get the job done. Awuzie also disappointed trying to stop the run and was replaced by Jourdan Lewis with the season on the line in Philadelphia.

The veteran right tackle signed an extension in the summer and lived up to his new deal $10 million-per-year deal. Collins played his best football this season and gave up just two sacks in 2019 despite lining up against some of the elite pass rushers in the league. He was even better as a run blocker, finishing top-3 in PFF’s rankings. Collins was likely the Cowboys biggest Pro Bowl snub.

Stock Down:  LB Jaylon Smith

It was a hit or miss season for Smith, who had 142 total tackles. However, he was pushed around in the run game too often and looked disinterested on far too many occasions. There were questions over his health for the year, but more was expected from Smith, especially after he blossomed in 2018 and received a big payday in the offseason. Smith did not live up to his new contract.
