“I miss the relationships and I miss practice, and you miss the game and the competition. You want to go do that and go get in the arena. But as a coach, I miss the day-to-day interaction with our players, and the day-to-day interaction with the practices, and watching a kid grow where the media can’t be there and he gets his butt chewed out, but then the next day he grows, like a parent does,” Fisher said. “I miss that part of the game and those interactions and having those meetings afterward with the kid, and he’s struggling and you’re trying to explain to him why he’s doing good and why he’s doing bad. All those types of things I truly do miss. There are only so many things you can hunt and fish and do all that stuff.
“I’m still young enough that, like I say, I’m gonna be ready to roll, probably here pretty soon… I’m going to keep my eye on it and still watch film, that’s just what I do. We’ll see when the season ends if the right opportunities are there.”
Fisher was replaced by his former defensive coordinator, Mike Elko, who will lead the Aggies in the season opener against Notre Dame on Saturday at Kyle Field.
