The past week has been filled with rumors regarding former NFL head coach Bill Belichick and the open head coach job at North Carolina. The interest was reported last week by Inside Carolina and since then, things have picked up.
Belichick has met with UNC more than once including a five-hour meeting on Sunday in New York City. While things are looking increasingly likely that he ends up as the head coach, there are still some hurdles to clear for the Tar Heels and Belichick.
Per Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the move for Belichick to UNC is not done yet. Russini also noted that “There are still a few hurdles to overcome before this can be finalized. Last night, UNC made a big push, but as of now nothing official.”
Interesting.

The report, behind a paywall, also states that nothing is imminent and there they remain apart on some key turns. That’s certainly not great for the hope that the Tar Heels can get this done soon, especially with the transfer portal off and running.
While expectations are that Belichick is likely to become the head coach, there has to be some concern at least for UNC fans, right?
This is still a situation to keep your eyes on moving forward and hopefully, there’s good news soon.
