The No. 8 Arkansas Razorbacks had a happy weekend at Bogle Park, picking up five wins and sweeping the competition at the Easton Razorback Rumble.
Production at the plate was at a premium over the weekend, as the Razorbacks outscored their opponents 44-10 over the weekend. Every player seemed to step up when it mattered. A perfect example came in Friday night’s win over Kennesaw State.
The Owls had control of the game, leading Arkansas 4-2 heading to the bottom of the 7th inning. Leadoff batter KB Sides reached on a single, and later scored on a home run by Taylor Ellsworth to tie the game. One at-bat later, Danielle Gibson straightened out the softball after an eight-pitch at-bat to reach base on a single, setting up partner-in-crime Hannah Gammill for a big opportunity. Gammill would smack the ball over the left field wall, giving Arkansas the 6-4 walk-off victory.
All four names were not only important in that game, but for the weekend in general. Ellsworth and Gammill pulled the team through in the first part of the weekend, while Gibson and Sides did most of their damage on the latter half of the tournament.
