In his final year as an assistant coach before making the transition to head coach, Steve Clifford got a chance to spend an entire season working with Steve Nash while both were members of the Los Angeles Lakers organization.
Now entering his eighth season as an NBA head coach, third with the Orlando Magic, Clifford recently explained on SiriusXM NBA radio that the Hall of Fame point guard has been prepping for this opportunity, even though Nash hasn’t been on the sidelines for an NBA team.
Furthermore, Clifford thinks Nash has the intangibles to thrive as a head coach:
“Steve is a natural leader. Not just that, but he’s an incredibly intelligent guy. He’s a unifier. … I think he’ll be a terrific head coach.”
"Steve is a natural leader."
