Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has been spending time during the NBA hiatus watching film and scouting the upcoming 2020 NBA Draft class.

The Warriors have dealt with injuries to several key players this season, which has caused the team to enter the offseason in uncharted territory. After holding the worst record in the league at the time of the suspension, the Warriors project to have a high draft pick for the first time since 2012.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver said last week the regular season suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic is expected to last at least 30 days, though many believe it may not be until at least June when play resumes. With the season at a standstill, Kerr is staying productive in his free time, according to Tommy Call of Warriors Wire.

“I’m watching tape on some of our draft prospects,” Kerr said. “And, you know, something I haven’t been able to do much of over the years, and I hadn’t done any of it this year. So I’m trying to use that time to get a feel for the guys who are on our list for the draft coming up.”

Of course, there is still plenty for the NBA to sort out before arriving at the draft. The coronavirus pandemic is expected to heavily alter the pre-draft process this year and it is unclear if teams will be able to hold workouts like in the past.

Depending on where the Warriors land in the NBA Draft Lottery, they could have the opportunity to select the likes of LaMelo Ball, Anthony Edwards or James Wiseman among others. They are projected to take Ball in the latest 2020 Rookie Wire Mock Draft.
