Moses Moody recently earned a vote of confidence from Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors head coach explained why the rookie has seen a larger role with the team.
Kerr recently put Moody in the rotation after dazzling in some recent performances. On March 7, Moody recorded a career-high 30 points in a loss to the Denver Nuggets to become the first teenager in team history to reach that threshold.
Unfortunately, the recent run by Moody hit a speed bump after the 14th pick suffered a right shoulder injury on March 16. He logged just nine minutes in that contest and was ruled out of playing on Sunday. He returned on Tuesday, but only saw five minutes of action.
Kerr explained what has stood out about Moody this season.
He makes the right play constantly. He recognizes situations and, for a young guy to do that, that is a great sign because he will only get better with all of that as he plays more and more NBA games and sees the patterns that are coming his way. Within that, he is a big, strong wing with a huge wingspan and shoots the ball really well. He fits the modern game really well.
Moody played sparingly for the Warriors early in the season. He saw a larger role with the team prior to the injury and will likely need to work his way back into a groove. The team loves his competitiveness and size on defense so it is likely only a matter of time before he plays more.
The Warriors were very high on Moody after drafting him last year, and the former Arkansas standout could be poised to play a key role with the team the rest of the season.
