Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Stetson Bennett recently talked about his notorious interview with “Good Morning America” after winning the national championship against Alabama. Bennett joined “Unreserved with TJ Callaway” and inevitably the moment of his interview was brought up.
“That was brutal, man,” said Bennett when the host, TJ Callaway, mentioned Bennett’s “Good Morning America” appearance.
“That sucks… I am not a raging alcoholic. We’d just won two national championships,” continued Bennett. “And they screwed me because it was like a little, tiny camera. I could not see what I looked like. I would probably sit up straight and not call Michael Strahan ‘Mike’. It was brutal. But what are you gonna do?”
Bennett noted that he could not sleep before the national championship game, which combined with celebrating winning Georgia’s first national championship in 40 years impacted his interview. Bennett admits, “We tore it up like rockstars (after beating Alabama).”

Bennett is entering his second season in the NFL. He missed much of his rookie season after being placed on the reserve/non-football injury list in September. The Los Angeles Rams did not provided a reason for Bennett’s absence, but he returned to the team earlier this year for OTAs and is back in action at training camp.
Bennett, who was the 128th pick of the 2023 NFL draft, is hoping to earn a spot on the Rams’ roster with a strong preseason. Bennett could be the Rams’ backup quarterback behind Matthew Stafford to start the season because Jimmy Garoppolo is suspended for the first two games of the season.
