Stetson Bennett did the Jordan Shrug after putting Georgia up big over TCU and fans had jokes

Stetson Bennett’s smug shrug does seem awfully familiar…

Stetson Bennett and the Georgia Bulldogs were having their way with the TCU Horned Frogs during Monday night’s national championship game.

Halfway through the game, with the Bulldogs up 38-7, Bennett had gone 13-for-17 with 213 yards and two passing touchdowns. On the ground, Bennett had 39 yards and two rushing touchdowns, including this six-yarder that put the Bulldogs up 24-7 halfway through the second quarter.

After the touchdown, which was a nice little run play that saw Bennett run into the end zone untouched, the 25-year-old quarterback pulled out quite the smug shrug for his celebration. The kind that says he knows Georgia has this in the bag. And one that ESPN pointed out looked pretty similar to Michael Jordan’s iconic shrug from the 1992 NBA Finals.

Comparing the two feels pretty… wrong, considering Jordan was posterizing the Portland Trail Blazers and Bennett’s taking it to TCU. Still, the imagery is familiar enough that I can see what they were going for here.
