Stephon Tuitt’s brother killed in hit-and-run in Georgia

Tuitt’s brother, Richard Bartlett III, died from injuries sustained in hit-and-run.

Steelers defensive end Stephon Tuitt has suffered an insurmountable loss — the death of his younger brother, Richard Bartlett III, in a hit-and-run in Georgia.

According to reports, on Wednesday night around 9:30, Barlett was driving behind his girlfriend, who was transporting a mattress strapped to the roof of her vehicle. Police said the mattress may have come loose, and Bartlett and his girlfriend stopped to secure it in Johns Creek, a suburb of Atlanta.

Moments later, Bartlett was fatally struck by a car. A witness believes the vehicle that hit Barlett was a dark, possibly black, four-door BMW, according to reports.

“We do know that the vehicle turned around in the intersection right there possibly to see what had happened or what they had hit, and at that point, they fled the scene,” Capt. Todd Hood of Johns Creek police told Atlanta’s WGCL-TV.

“We’re doing everything we can to help the family in this situation. It’s very tragic for them, very tragic for the mom and the girlfriend who witnessed this incident,” said Hood.

Police ask anyone with information on the vehicle, the driver or the vehicle owner to call 470-774-3358.
