Stephen Vogt homers, has kids announce at-bat in heartwarming final MLB game before retirement

This was quite the career sendoff for Stephen Vogt.

Stephen Vogt had the most storybook ending to his MLB career that one could ever dream of.

On Wednesday, the Oakland Athletics ended their 2022 season with a 3-2 win to finish dead last in the AL West at 60-102, their worst year since 1994. While the Athletics season could have gone better, it at least ended on quite a high note for Vogt, who played in his last career MLB game against the Los Angeles Angels.

And what a final game it was! After a decade in the MLB, the catcher is hanging up his glove and bat at age 37. To mark the special occasion, Vogt’s children adorably announced his name as he came up to bat for the first time during Wednesday’s game.

But that’s not all! Vogt then hit a home run in the final at bat of his career, rounding the bases with the most jubilant celebration you’ll ever see.

Yeah, that’s the good stuff. Check out Vogt’s final curtain call too, which was quite the emotional moment.

Good luck in retirement, Vogt!
