Stephen Franken leads Orange County National Championship after back-to-back 64s

Here’s everything you need to know about the 2020 Orange County National Championship through 36 holes.

Stephen Franken shot 7-under 64 two days in a row to take a one-shot lead at the Orange County National Championship through 36 holes.

Franken, 23, began his round with an eagle on 2 and followed with five birdies for back-to-back bogey-free rounds at Orange County National in Winter Garden, Florida. The former NC State golfer has competed in 20 Korn Ferry Tour events this season, making the cut in one out of the last seven before this week’s event. His best finish this season was a T-11 in August at the Pinnacle Bank Championship.

First-round co-leader Shad Tuten sits one shot behind Franken in second after carding a second-round 66. Tuten, who was coming off a 63, made four birdies in his first five holes Friday before recording his first bogey of the tournament on the par-4 sixth.

Eight golfers sit T-3 at 12 under while former Stanford Cardinal Brandon Wu is in a three-way tie for 11th at 11 under.

For the second-straight day, the round was suspended due to darkness. Five golfers had yet to complete their rounds when play was suspended at 7:30 p.m. ET.
