Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry is continuing to make an imprint in the media and film industry with his latest project.
The co-founder of Unanimous Media, Curry is collaborating with actress Storm Reid for a new series called “Bamazing,” which will showcase female athletes.
Curry and Reid also teamed up in March to promote the new Curry 7 Bamazing colorway as part of celebrating International Women’s Day.
The first film of the series is about sixth-grader Jatniel Cabrera and her passion for basketball. With the COVID-19 pandemic having the world on pause, production of the other films has been temporarily stopped, per Curry’s YouTube channel.
The short films are directed by female filmmakers, and they’re made to inspire and empower women. Jennia Fredrique, Alessia Glidewell and Jeannie Donohoe are the three directors working on the films.
“This series is all about celebrating women who inspire and uplift others, both on the court and behind the camera,” Curry said. “Storm and I were so impressed by Jennia, Alessia and Jeannie and their ideas about how to bring these films to life. They are such creative and talented filmmakers and we’re so excited to share these powerful films that hopefully inspire the next generation of young women.”
This is how we celebrate #InternationalWomensDay. Being amazing is about ALL girls looking in the mirror & being okay with who they are, how they look, & confident about the space they hold in this world. Reid has most recently been on HBO’s “Euphoria.” She was also in the Netflix series “When They See Us” as well as the film “The Invisible Man.” She wants to help women reach their potential.
“Working with Stephen and Under Armour on this project has been truly amazing,” Reid sad. “The goal of my Bamazing initiative is to encourage young girls and remind them that they are truly capable of anything, and this series certainly helps spread that message. It’s so important for women to empower and lift each other up, and Jennia, Alessia and Jeannie have done this powerfully through their inspiring films. I’m so proud of this series and for the stories that these incredible female filmmakers created.”
