Last season was a disappointment for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Dointae Johnson. After catching 107 passes for 1,161 yards in 2021, Johnson could only muster up 86 catches for 882 receiving yards. But this hasn’t hurt Johnson’s confidence as he heads into 2023.
Johnson talked about his goals for 2023 and he has the bar high for himself and we are here for all of the confidence.
“Definitely All-Pro, Pro Bowl,” Johnson said. “Over 1,000 yards. Over 100 catches. Top 10, top 5. Saying that in the most humble way. Really, that is pretty much it. I pray over my goals. If I achieve them, I achieve them. If I don’t, I just keep working. At the end of the day that is all I can do.”
Last season, no receiver was better at getting open than Johnson. Unfortunately, his catch rate wasn’t on par with it so he did himself no favors in getting more targets in the passing game.
With Kenny Pickett in his first full season as the starting quarterback, the entire offense will benefit. Johnson has true No. 1 receiver potential and could end up being Pickett’s favorite target.
