Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Steven Nelson has been tremendous in coverage this season. So losing him would be a huge blow to the secondary. I mention this because Nelson suffered a knee injury in last week’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.
According to the team’s practice report, Nelson missed Friday’s practice. We aren’t ready to panic yet as the entire practice schedule is thrown off but it is something to keep an eye on. If Nelson misses practice on Saturday, his status for Monday’s game with the Washington Football Team will be in jeopardy.
If Nelson can’t go, look for some combination of Cameron Sutton and Justin Layne in his place opposite Joe Haden.
The only other absence from Friday’s practice was quarterback Ben Roethlisberger who got some additional veteran rest with a short week.
