The Pittsburgh Steelers are giving quarterback Mitch Trubisky every opportunity to win the starting quarterback job. The battle for the starting quarterback has tightened up over the course of the preseason and Trubisky gets the start this week against the Detroit Lions to try and cement his position.
According to head coach Mike Tomlin, the quarterback rotation for this week’s game will be the same as last week’s game. After Trubisky starts, rookie Kenny Pickett will come in and Mason Rudolph will likely play the entire second half again.
The Steelers signed Trubisky as a free agent to be the team’s next starting quarterback. But thanks to a big preseason by Pickett, Tomlin has a very difficult decision to make leading up to the start of the regular season. The fans want Pickett, logic says play Trubisky. This game will go a long way toward making that choice.
