The Pittsburgh Steelers had their all-important Friday practice, which is the workout that generates the team’s game status report. Several starters were up in the air for this week’s game with the Buffalo Bills and for them, the news isn’t great.
Wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and tight end Vance McDonald have both been ruled out for Sunday night’s game. Smith-Schuster will miss his fourth game in a row as he continues to deal with a knee injury. McDonald suffered a concussion last week and remains in the protocol.
Running back James Conner is listed as questionable but we feel like this is just code for Conner not playing again. With Jaylen Samuels healthy there’s really no urgency to push Conner back onto to the field.
With McDonald out, it’s going to be up to Nick Vannett and Zach Gentry to fill out the tight end depth chart. Let’s be honest, no one was throwing to the tight ends before McDonald got hurt so that won’t change now.
