Thursday night, just before the start of the Pittsburgh Steelers preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles, news started to leak out that the Steelers were working on a trade to acquire Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Joe Schobert. This report was confirmed by Schobert himself but at present, the exact details of the trade aren’t known.
But according to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, the expectation is the Steelers will be giving up late-round draft compensation to get Schobert, which really sounds like a bargain
The Steelers know Schobert well from his four seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Schobert spent one year with the Jags but took a step back in terms of his strength which is in coverage. The Steelers must be banking on a return to form by Schobert with the talent around him on the Pittsburgh defense.
