The Pittsburgh Steelers are on track to report to training camp on Tuesday, July 28. However, based on the agreement reached between the NFL and the NFLPA, padded practices will come much later.
Pittsburgh won’t have their first padded practice until August 17, with their first regular-season game coming against the New York Giants on September 14.
Without any preseason games, the onus on the Steelers will be to use the limited number of padded practices to attempt to simulate real game situations to the best of their ability. Despite this, look for every team including Pittsburgh to use a week or two of the regular season to knock the rust off.
Prior to putting on the pads, the Steelers will spend training camp in phases including COVID-19 testing, conditioning, small group work and finally walk thru activities. Teams will be allowed a maximum of 14 padded practices during training camp.
