Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth unlikely to play vs. Rams after aggravating hamstring

The Rams were set to face Pat Freiermuth on Sunday but he’s now expected to miss the game after aggravating his hamstring in practice

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth is one of the best players at his position but the Los Angeles Rams most likely won’t have to face him on Sunday. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Freiermuth is unlikely to play this weekend after aggravating his hamstring injury in practice Thursday.

Freiermuth missed Week 5 with that same hamstring injury but was expected to return this week following the bye. It’s unfortunate news for the Steelers, but it does make the game plan easier for the Rams.

In 16 games last season, Freiermuth had 63 catches for 732 yards and two touchdowns. That was after he caught seven touchdown passes as a rookie in 2021.

The Steelers are still likely to get Diontae Johnson back from injured reserve this week, but the loss of Freiermuth is a big one.
