Steelers stand pat at the trade deadline

The Steelers didn’t make any trades this time around while other top teams stayed active.

Aside from one rumor we all wanted to believe that the Pittsburgh Steelers had agreed on a trade that would land them Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson, the Steelers did nothing and the trade deadline came and went and the team did nothing to improve this roster.

We saw multiple teams in the playoff hunt add players in hopes of improving the state of their respective rosters. The Jacksonville Jaguars got a bargain when they traded for guard Ezra Cleveland. He’d have been an upgrade for the Steelers. The Buffalo Bills improved their weakest position on defense when they worked a deal for former Green Bay Packers cornerback Rasul Douglas.

There is no way to know if the Steelers made an offer for a guy like cornerback Patrick Surtain II or even Johnson. But it’s hard to look at this roster and not feel like there were some opportunities missed to upgrade while other top AFC teams were more aggressive to keep pace.
