The Steelers get no love from ESPN in their offensive top 10 rankings.

The struggles of the Pittsburgh Steelers offense in 2019 are well documented. When it comes to the offensive ineptitude, the bulk of the blame fell on quarterback play. And rightfully so. There are plenty of other skill position players on the roster who have skills. But according to ESPN, the skill-position players are not among the elite in the NFL.

ESPN has ranked quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and tight ends. And unfortunately, none of their Top 10 lists included any members of the Steelers. The closest was quarterback Ben Roethlisberger who got an honorable mention among quarterbacks.

In an NFL that covets the forward pass and continues to skew toward more yards and points, it’s disheartening to think no pundits give the Steelers’ skill players much credit.

Guys like Diontae Johnson and JuJu Smith-Schuster show promise but until their work pays off in wins, they aren’t going to get recognition by the mainstream media. The same can be said for running back. There’s no elite talent on the depth chart but there are several guys including Benny Snell Jr. and James Conner who should be more productive.
