Steelers sign WR Jacob Copeland to practice squad

The Steelers announced multiple roster moves on Tuesday.

According to Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, starting wide receiver Diontae Johnson will miss at least a week with the hamstring injury he suffered in Sunday’s 30-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

This forced the Steelers to bring in a trio of free-agent wide receivers for a visit on Tuesday. Pittsburgh worked out Isaiah Coulter, Deuce Watts and Jacob Copeland, with Copeland getting signed to the Steelers practice squad.

Copeland is a former Florida and Maryland receiver who split time in the offseason on the Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Vikings roster.

In a corresponding move to make space on the practice squad, the Steelers released running back Greg Bell and cornerback Luq Barcoo. This means the Steelers still have a spot on the practice squad to add another player if necessary.
