The Pittsburgh Steelers traded back in the third round and with the No. 93 overall pick have selected Georgia tight end Darnell Washington.
Washington fell due in part because of some health concerns with a knee injury. But if he is healthy, Washington will be a huge addition to this offense. The only thing better than one huge pass-catching tight end and Washington paired up with Pat Freiermuth completely transforms the Steelers passing offense.
But what sets Washington apart from the other tight ends in this draft is his abilities as a blocker. At 6-foot-7 and 265 pounds, Washington could easily be mistaken for an offensive tackle and he blocks like one too. His addition will help create huge mismatches for quarterback Kenny Pickett and help open up the run game.
