If the Pittsburgh Steelers are planning to promote an internal candidate to replace general manager Kevin Colbert, they are doing a good job of hiding it. First, the team interviewed ESPN analyst Louis Riddick for the position and now, according to ESPN reporter Adam Schefter the team has requested permission to interview Indianapolis Colts scouting director Morocco Brown.

Brown was one of the names we tossed out early as a potential replacement for Colbert and so it’s great to see him getting an interview. The Steelers also interviewed Colts assistant general manager Ed Dodds for the opening.

Dodds has been with the Colts since becoming the director of college scouting in 2017. Brown has orchestrated some exceptional drafts for Indianapolis. Unfortunately, if the Steelers do hire Brown, he won’t have any input in this year’s draft as Colbert plans to leave after it is over.
