Steelers release punter Braden Mann

Braden Mann had a very strong preseason for the Steelers.

The Pittsburgh Steelers wasted no time in making their first roster move after cuts. The team announced on Wednesday they were releasing punter Braden Mann. Pittsburgh held onto Mann and Pressley Harvin III after cuts but the two-punter concept didn’t even last a day.

We presume the thought was to try to trade Mann and get some value for him. General manager Omar Khan was working fast and furious at the deadline and was able to trade guards Kendrick Green and Kevin Dotson instead of releasing them for nothing.

Pittsburgh might try to bring Mann back to the practice squad but he’s played well enough that he should have plenty of teams looking to sign him to the 53-man roster.

Keeping Mann was one of the big surprises from the Steelers cut downs. We were also surprised the team released tight end Zach Gentry, nose tackle Breiden Fehoko and defensive back Tre Norwood.
