On Tuesday, the Pittsburgh announced five more roster moves to get the training camp roster cut to the required 80 players by the deadline at the end of business. One of those players released was edge rusher Genard Avery.
Avery started his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns back in 2018. After two seasons with Cleveland he moved on to the Philadelphia Eagles for three seasons before signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the offseason.
I honestly thought Avery had a real shot to make the final 53-man roster. This team is woefully thin at edge rusher and Avery had shown some real promise.
We have released five players to trim the roster to 80. @BordasLaw
