It looks like the Steelers will rely on Benny Snell Jr. on Monday against Washington.

According to ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter, Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner is eligible to come off the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday. In theory, this would make him available to play Monday afternoon when the Steelers take on the Washington Football Team.

But as Schefter points out, it is highly unlikely the Steelers would activate him for the game. Pittsburgh will once again look to Benny Snell Jr. to power the run game against Washington.

Snell was solid last week with 16 carries for 60 yards against the Baltimore Ravens last week. Those 3.8 yards per carry is nothing to write home about but nevertheless, the team did show a commitment to the run game we hadn’t seen in recent weeks.

Washington is No. 15 in the NFL in run defense. Meanwhile, they are No. 2 in the league in passing defense. I think you know where this is going. There’s no way Tomlin is going to trot Conner out there after a week without practice but Snell is going to have some opportunities to run the ball on Monday. He just has to take advantage of them.
