Steelers QB Russell Wilson declared inactive for 2nd straight week

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson has been declared inactive for his second straight week, acting as the emergency QB.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson has been declared inactive for his second straight week, acting as the emergency quarterback, third behind Kyle Allen.

Wilson hasn’t been able to shake the calf injury sustained in conditioning drills on the first day of training camp.

Should Justin Fields take care of the ball today versus the Denver Broncos, the starting job could be his for keeps. According to sources of NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Steelers could continue with the hot hand, keeping Wilson sidelined.

If that were to happen, Wilson won’t be happy. But if he desires to keep playing beyond 2024, risking further damage to your body probably isn’t the best idea.

Wilson signed a one-year contract with the Steelers for the vet minimum in March because he’s being paid $39 million from the Broncos this season.
