With the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens both getting a jump on Week 17 of the NFL regular season, we have a bit more information about what Week 18 means for the Steelers prior to any of the other AFC teams in the playoff mix getting to play.
We punched in more than a dozen scenarios into the ESPN Playoff Machine to help sort out some situations for the Steelers in terms of seeding since the Steelers have already secured a playoff spot.
The Steelers could finish the season as the no. 3 seed, No. 5 seed, No. 6 seed or No. 7 seed depending on the rest of the game play out. Here are some situations.
If the Steelers win in Week 18 and the Ravens lose, Pittsburgh is the AFC North champs and the No. 3 seed. This is the only way the Steelers get a home playoff game.
If the Steelers and Ravens win in Week 18, Baltimore wins the AFC North and the Steelers are the No. 5 seed.
The Steelers would also land the No. 5 seed if they lose but only if the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers lose both of their last two games.
Pittsburgh would end up the No. 6 seed if they lose and either the Broncos or Chargers win out. If they lose and the Chargers and Broncos both win out, they will fall all the way to the No. 7 seed.
Once Week 17 wraps up we will get all the updated scenarios in place.
