This would normally be the time of year when we would talk about the Pittsburgh Steelers being able to either take a week off or prepare for one and reviewing the first part of the year in preparation for the back half of the year. But thanks to the Tennessee Titans, the Steelers were forced into an early bye week and so through seven weeks, the team must just press on.
Looking at the Steelers schedule, the next six games are going to be vital for the final outcome of the season but in different ways.
During the next six weeks, Pittsburgh gets the Baltimore Ravens twice. These will be the defining games on the Steelers schedule and in a crowded AFC North could have a huge impact on the AFC playoff picture.
But those two games are packed in between four very winnable games. Pittsburgh faces off with the Ravens this week but then gets the Dallas Cowboys on the road followed by the Cincinnati Bengals at home and the Jacksonville Jaguars in Jacksonville.
After that, the Ravens come to Pittsburgh followed by a visit from the Washington Football Team. Even if the Steelers drop one of two against Baltimore, a 5-1 run is hardly out of the question.
They might need it to because, in the team’s final four games, three of those are against potential playoff teams.
