Jamir Jones had nothing to show for 22 pass rush snaps versus Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3 — and was shown the door on Monday.
The Steelers waived Jones to make room for Derrek Tuszka, who was promoted from the practice squad this week. He posted a whopping two tackles in 27 snaps on Sunday.
Surely Pittsburgh hoped Jones would clear waivers but instead, the Rams snapped him up for depth. This isn’t the first time the Steelers got burned by poor decision-making. Earlier this month, rookie linebacker Quincy Roche was released in favor of Jones and the Giants claimed him.
Jones’s dominance in the preseason (four sacks, six quarterback hits) led to a spot on the 53-man roster, but his performance fell flat once the regular season rolled around — he registered three tackles and one quarterback hit in 36 snaps.
